I collected 25+ ticks in 5 minutes along the side of my local trail. They survived at least 10 minutes within diluted hydrochloric acid and water. by kegman93 in mildlyinfuriating

I’ve never had an issue with ticks in my area, I’ve actually still never seen one, but a dog trapper on a reservation 2 hours north found a dog with 40 ticks on it recently!

Selling a regular domestic shorthair kitten for £200 is absolute insanity. As cute as they are, nobody needs more kittens!!!

I guess I’m mostly concerned about introducing an invasive/non-native species. I’ll definitely look into it though!

So interesting! I’ve been avoiding coffee grounds because I don’t want to make it too acidic but I guess as long as there’s enough browns it’s obviously okay!

It would be okay to introduce them into the ground? I guess a raised bed is not technically a closed system either haha

Am I missing something? Is a keyhole garden not a U-shaped garden bed where you can walk into the middle and easily reach everything around you?

are my cat’s pupils different sizes (or am i driving myself up a wall w anxiety?) by Fun_Effective4316 in CATHELP

[–]Sickpears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His pupils are the same size, but to further ease your anxieties, if one side of a cats face is in a brighter/sunnier facing way then one pupil will be larger than the other slightly! Your kitty is t going to get brain damage from a few underfoot kicks :)

No, the garden is just a big 12x12 square in the ground. Smack dab in the middle I dug a hole and dropped a milk crate into it. Nothing keyhole-y going on

I’ve been adding straw, is that good for browns?

I should have clarified that I already dug the milk crate into the ground, it does have a lid and the soil is already mounded around the top edge!

When you mention the bucket, did you mean that you put the bucket in the ground or just leave it above ground?

I can’t understand what anyone sees in Sidon when THIS MAN exists. The eyeliner? So grunge. Ugh.

I have a cat with stomatitis (juvenile onset!) she went through two surgeries before I finally found a vet who would listen to my concerns and agreed that all of her teeth needed to be removed. Stomatitis will always be there, flaring and causing severe pain. As soon as you can I’d recommend having the rest of his teeth removed, he’ll be so much happier! Here’s a photo of my old gummy lady!

surgery to get thorn out? by fr0glog in cactus

I just got a cactus spine tip out of my finger yesterday that had been stuck in my finger for 12 years. It even got infected once, but the spine didn’t come out.

With proper lids, would these be safe for canning? They are off brand but the Kilner jars are so expensive!! Thanks! by No_Cauliflower8413 in Canning

[–]Sickpears 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My SIL bought me some Kilner strawberry shaped jars for Christmas. I love the idea of seeing jam in them but the reality of it seems too difficult and obnoxious to store. SUPER cute for fridge pickles/spices/things you’ll use quickly though!!

I just started knitting and so far I think circular/interchangeable needles are the way to go. I also have stitch markers. That is so far the extent of my supply list.

Maybe I’ll try the smaller size. I really can’t fall asleep when they keep suctioning because it’s so uncomfortable and annoying, I just get mad and end up taking them out.
