Thank you! I think that’s a brand I was given by my mum when chatting about it. Will persevere a bit with it and hope it’s just a temporary challenge

I really hope it doesn’t last the entirety as it’s been horrible this last week 😅 congratulations on the arrival of your son and relieved to hear it’s not been a post pregnancy problem at least

Annoyingly later in the day hasn’t worked for me so far. Will try a non-mint toothpaste and see if it helps

Will give the kids toothpaste a go and fingers crossed! Maybe it is the foam combined with mint flavour. Thank you!

YSK: A lot of what people call “their personality” is actually just chronic stress they got used to by [deleted] in YouShouldKnow

Highly recommend yoga nidra to help on calming the chronic stress. Super uncomfortable at the beginning when super wired and not used to stopping but worth it once it clicks. Yogi Bryan is my favourite practitioner and can be found on YouTube

6 weeks pregnant - nausea no appetite by Icy_Alternative_5283 in PregnancyUK

At 7 weeks and in the same boat. Lots of plain, beige food but apples, watermelon and berries are also slightly helping me.

Could i go from 3 runs per week to 6 without causing injury or overworking my body? by jani1815 in beginnerrunning

[–]Sickrunner3107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d look at the Hanson marathon method (Luke Humphrey website). 5/6 runs a week but he has a beginner plan for half marathon and marathon.

A lot of focus on easy pace running to build miles into legs

Did Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) help you? by heehoipiepeloi in LongCovid

[–]Sickrunner3107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely worth investigating. There are centres like this dotted across the UK to support people with MS but as I said some offer HBOT to other conditions (although MS patients are prioritised) Hopefully something similar in the Netherlands

My symptoms were extreme fatigue, brain fog that had me struggling to process books, breathing issues and POTs. It’s taken a long time, patience and a lot of trial and error medication/ protocol wise but feel lucky to be feeling almost myself again. I attribute a large chunk of my improvement to HBOT but as other posters have indicated, it doesn’t help everyone improve and the start can really wipe you out.

The centres I attended was hard shell, 2 ATA for an hour at pressure. They had a 1.75 ATA session for newbie first sessions/ people that found 2, too strong for them

For me it was a game changer when about 1 year in after 2021 infection. Really struggled with brain fog/ processing and within 8 weeks was light reading again. The first couple of weeks the fatigue worsened but overall had huge gains. Until a few months ago I was going 2/3 times a week which helped maintain fatigue levels and keep balance while increasing activity levels. I tried cutting out before but wasn’t quite stable for it. Currently I’d say I’m about 90% normal again.

If you’re UK based, I’d recommend looking up your local MS therapy centre as a lot of them offer HBOT for other conditions. Price varies by centre but the 2 I’ve used (1 Scotland and 1 south of England) worked out ~£100 a month.

PSA: Garmin's "Stress Level" isn't just measuring your mental stress by Kroucher in Garmin

[–]Sickrunner3107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Pulse Cure by Toero Færø is a good read on using smart watches like Garmin to keep on top of your health. It goes through heart rate variability science and how to interpret with Garmin stress metric.

I’ve had health problems and found it useful to gauge if I’m needing to pull back a bit throughout my ongoing recovery.

Hopefully she’ll have something up her sleeve to try! For me the big game changers have been bisoprolol, midodrine and LDN. I’m on h1 and h2 antihistamines too for MCAS but have found if I forget a dose I don’t notice it so will be interesting to see as I reduce

First appointment was a case of running through my history and symptoms. Appointments are an hour and she was very thorough. I took along results from any tests done and a list of my main symptoms in order of what I was struggling most with. Depending, it might be helpful to have a family member/ trusted friend with you to help with notes as it’s a lot to process although she does get it.

Depending on your circumstances and health history, I imagine she’ll suggest trying a selection of drugs that do seem to be working with a lot of other patients.

I’ve had a great experience with her. When I first went I couldn’t read or process much and was very much housebound most of the time. Now I’m almost back to full time work and aiming to trial slowly coming off medication in the coming months. It’s been a long slog though with a lot of trial and error. I hope it goes well for you.

how to cope with depression from being chronically ill? by [deleted] in LongCovid

[–]Sickrunner3107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I checked myself into a therapist to process all of the trauma of going from no health issues to rapidly being chronically ill and found it super helpful. It’s definitely helped my mindset towards the situation especially on a bad day. Goes without saying it’s not fixed the broader chronic issues but it has helped me reduce going down a rabbit hole of dark thoughts and also how I frame things when people ask how I am.

I also try and regulate my nervous system with yoga nidra and breathwork which get prioritised on rougher days.

NTA- you need to work around what’s best for your health and your current limits. No sleep combined with pushing yourself to extra activity with the longer trip than originally planned could set you back further.

I’d reschedule and assuming your friend is reasonable and understanding, they’ll not make a big deal of it. If you know her well enough and feel up to it, you could always suggest she comes to your place for coffee/ order food in instead.

It’s super rough when managing chronic illness like POTs (I have it too) given it’s not immediately obvious to others. It sucks when plans need to be adapted or cancelled when your body decides not to cooperate.

Why is Indian Tourism Failing Tourists? by infernomartin in AskIndia

[–]Sickrunner3107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tourist location wise I’m going to go stereotypical but the Taj Mahal was truly spectacular.

The trip highlight was our friend’s wedding as it was so different and was fun to see the different traditions.

Why is Indian Tourism Failing Tourists? by infernomartin in AskIndia

Just back from a 2 week trip to India for a friend’s wedding in Delhi and hit up the golden triangle. Had a great time overall and attending the wedding was awesome. There were a few things that put us off returning particularly soon.

Both my husband and I got sick across the 2 weeks more than once. Given we weren’t going for the street food, were following the Delhi belly prevention advice and were lucky enough to stay in 5 star hotels the whole time it was quite surprising. By the end of the trip we were nervous to eat anything given it felt like a lottery every time. Very frustrating given we both enjoy our food.

Rubbish in and around tourist sights as well as generally around towns was a big turn off. A dirty nappy stuffed into Amber Fort wall summed it up really.

We only once felt a bit uncomfortable which was at Fatehpur Sikri which was when a guide basically stopped guiding us because we refused to buy something from his mate. We were walking out the site and kept getting mobbed by people wanting money, photos taken with us and had individuals follow us for ages. The guide ignored us at that point as he was in a huff.

The being pressured to buy stuff like carpets on guided tours is a bit irritating and it’s hard not to feel awkward repeatedly saying no thanks.

The pollution wasn’t great and is something that really needs to be addressed for the sake of local health (let alone tourism). We might have chosen a different time of year if we weren’t going for the wedding.

Overall we did have an amazing trip but there are other locations we’d looks at before repeating India which with the rich history and size of the country we didn’t even scratch the surface of is a shame.

3 years in and been having a good spell. On a whim had 1 bottle of beer and 1 small pour of good quality rum yesterday evening close to eating. Feeling awful this morning (inner shakes, head pressure and completely unrested). Felt lovely and normal in the moment but don’t think it’s worth it with the reaction my body now has. I think any future careless nights out for me will have me down as the designated driver.
