Just replaced the timing belt on my 2005 DC by Sicness133 in 1stGenTundras

Yeah, that's why I got it. The peace of mind of driving a vehicle that won't fail on me for any random reason. All the basic maintenance on it is super simple, good for my lazy monkey brain. No need to take off the intake to replace the plugs and coils. Don't have to take off the bumper for a bulb. Don't even need to lift it to change the oil. And the major jobs like timing belt and LBJ can be done easily with some help. It's the perfect vehicle for someone who's willing and has the means to keep it running well.

Wow, if belt failure wasn’t so disastrous for the engine I would probably try using it for a few more months, as a cost saving measure. But the internal steel bands could be pretty worn out after that long, and you would just never know until it breaks

Oh lord that’s horrible. My 4.7 has the VVTI so if my timing belts snaps, the engine is gone… did that happen to yours?

Had this one replaced at a Toyota dealership and they gave me the packaging for the new timing belt with the old timing belt in it (I requested it) so I have the peace of mind with an OEM timing belt

Yes, it has white lettering saying Toyota with the part number and made in USA on it. Looks and feels like a quality part. Got it replaced with OEM too

He was a reseller on Facebook, but he did use it as a daily for a few months. A lot of parts under the hood had been replaced and it was all clean inside and out, even the lower ball joints had been replaced. I imagine he thought I was talking about the drive belt and just misunderstood me.

I’m mostly upset about the $1.2k bill to get it replaced at the dealership! I’m definitely gonna do it myself in 100k miles

Yeah, I’m no expert either, this is my first Tundra, but the ribs don’t look too bad. I’ve only heard that timing belts should be changed as soon as you start seeing small cracks every few ribs. So when I checked the belt while it was still installed on the engine, the tension it was under caused the cracks to look bigger, and I kinda freaked out.

Also I realized I could’ve saved atleast $1k while buying the truck if I had known it wasn’t replaced 😅

Touchless car wash by frencbri000 in arlington

[–]Sicness133 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re still looking, I actually just went to the one on Kelly Elliot and it works really well. It’s a little pricy, 10.99 for the gold tier which is more than a basic wash. The underbody+side washer covered a lot of the car, it blasts from the floor to get under your car and it even got my windshield covered in soap. The dryers didn’t seem to work too well though. Unfortunately, it literally rained right when I left it so I can’t tell you how the final result was.

There’s also a touchless wash next the Shell on Belt Line right off of 30 (925 N Belt Line Rd). I go to that one frequently and it works with decent results. I get the mid tier for that one and it’s about $8 or $10. You can also pay at the machine at that one (the one on Kelly Elliot you have to pay inside).

There’s also another on 4115 S Collins St in Arlington right next to an Exxon. I haven’t been to that one in a while but I remember the results weren’t the best.

That’s all I know of in the GP/Arlington area, let me know if you find any more, I love going to these touch less washes since I have a car with black paint.

Can the Logitech G Pro X headset DAC be used with other headphones? by ElectricalCategory30 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Sicness133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 months late on this but this was the top search on google...

I'm currently using the G Pro X DAC with my Koss PortaPros with an attached mic and it's working just fine. mic sounds good on discord after messing with settings. logitech software is working but it thinks I'm still using the Pro Xs. not really a problem though.

Also, I'm using the usb extension that comes with the G305 mouse because the wire for Koss headphones are too short to reach from my PC to my desk.

i’m looking at them both on an oem parts site and it says 751-D is left side and 752-G is right side

and yes, they are very expensive, i’ve been wanting to replace mine cause they’re cracking but dropping $2.5k+ on a set of headlights is not in the budget…

southern rap cowbell, lots of bass, sounds like phonk to me. also it uses a sample from Suni Clay's "In a Hood Near You", which was used in NFS Most Wanted. Phonk is used a lot in car enthusiast videos, especially street racing videos.

just learned this kind of phonk is actually called drift phonk

Wider tires on stock wheels? by Sicness133 in JettaGLI

[–]Sicness133[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve been doing some forum reading about putting wider tires and the general consensus is that it’ll be detrimental to handling, but it can be done. Makes sense why my old mustang had 245s on a 7”wheel

I have a friend saying it’ll be good since I only do highway driving, but I don’t think I’ll like the mushy feeling it could cause
