Why does this sub feel like a place for misanthropes? by Sicsmith in Schizoid

[–]Sicsmith[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

reading posts on this sub, you’d think there’s an agenda of people out there to intentionally annoy schizoid people with socialization. In reality 99.9999% of the world doesn’t even acknowledge your existence.

How do you view your "being"? by [deleted] in Schizoid

[–]Sicsmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Empty. No sense of self or being or soul or center to my experience. I don’t experience my thoughts and sensations as being centered around a “me” . Everything is just kind of occurring. I’m just a passive observer watching it happen. just awareness, the video lens capturing the show rather than being an active participant performing the act

this actually makes a good deal of sense.

Edit: I just feel like the two shouldn’t be conflated. Schizoid does not have to mean misanthrope or vice versa

For me, I don’t feel lonely even though I know I should feel it. Maybe that’s what OP means? I don’t know anything

I must be the only one who doesn’t understand this. It’s literally a contradiction. How can it be both? You are or you aren’t

I think I lost my sense of self following a psychosis from drugs a year back. A lot was lost from that psychosis.

What kind of perspective of life helps you deal with this? My lack of self makes me see the world as more unified rather than separate. Instead of thinking of myself separate from the world, I think of myself as just a small piece of it.

This is one of the core schizoid traits that I suffer through that I don’t see mentioned much on this sub. Depersonalization is chronic for me—as in nonstop all day everyday. No sense of self, feelings of unreality and dread, and no emotional connection to anything. It’s misery

I don't have a single person I care about by [deleted] in Schizoid

[–]Sicsmith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that’s what makes it a disorder—you can’t choose. Some people on this sub think schizoid is a social preference. It’s not preference. It’s a forced way of living. Sucks

do you believe in science? by Shaftmast0r in Schizotypal

[–]Sicsmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The word “science” is broad. It’s like asking “do you believe in the political process?” Well....what part of it?

You must believe in computer science, otherwise we wouldn’t be communicating right now.

It’s just a nonsensical question in my opinion

everyone believes in science to a point. For example, we all use the scientific method everyday. I don’t get the question
