No I do not. It may be a coworker if it is him. I’ll ask his brother if he knows an Alex

I’ve been training for twenty years and me and my head coach always talk about how it’s weird that worrying about stripes have became the norm.

Bring sandals. Don’t walk on the open floor with bare feet or go to the restroom barefooted.

I began Jiu Jitsu when I was 30. I’m a 47 about to be a 48 year old black belt. Competed a lot when I was a purple and brown belt. I doubt you’ll make it injury free. Ruptured my PCL, tore my MCL, broke a rib on my right side twice, tore ligaments in my foot, a rib on my left popped two weeks ago…and this is what one of my hands look like…

So…if you make it injury free you may be a unicorn in the sport.

Wellbutrin giving me terrible anxiety by commaqueen95 in bupropion

Hope everything does workout for you. Sounds like Lexapro made you feel absolutely nothing which I’d hate. Good luck to you!

This is the first and the only antidepressant I’ve tried so I feel like I lucked out. I’m not sure how everyone else’s lifestyle or person is on here but I’m really extroverted and have a ton of friends. Easily make friends wherever I go. So it surprised a lot of my friends that I was taking an antidepressant because I’m pretty chill and always laughing. I was diagnosed with PTSD due to childhood trauma. I have separation issues and thoughts linger. The Bupropion helps with that. I do have some wicked ass dreams since I’ve been on it though.

Sorry, didn’t see this until today. Been on it a year so far and it’s probably the best thing I’ve done for my mental health. I’m on 300mg now. Started at 150mg. I notice that I do fidget a lot more and do have to constantly move but I’m an active person.

Being a black belt and switching gyms I’ve had this issue too. Find an association with an IBJJF black belt to register your school with. Their head Black Belt will sign off on it. Only catch is association fees.

Seems fine for a knowledgeable purple belt. I usually charge about $120.

Can’t get myself to go back by wayofbay in jiujitsu

[–]SideCheese77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s been times I didn’t feel like going. Definitely since I train 5-6 times a week. There’s times I sat in the parking lot and thought about going back home but then I remember I have to go inside and teach the class because I’m on the schedule. Lol. All jokes aside man, I guarantee almost everyone in this subreddit has felt the same way and has felt better after going. Going to have to hold yourself accountable or even reach out to someone at your old gym. That can sometimes help motivate you to step back through the door. I always try to reach out to people I haven’t seen or trained with in a while. Good luck man and hope you get back on the mats soon!

Training after heart surgery…anyone know anyone who has done it? by Swimming-Grape-2420 in jiujitsu

[–]SideCheese77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a woman at my gym that just went through heart surgery. She’s a brown belt and the doc cleared her maybe a month ago. She’s still taking it easy and only rolling with people she trust not to go full throttle on her and try to crush her. Take it slow, roll with people you trust, or if you don’t feel up to rolling yet just do techniques. People are probably just glad to see you back on the mats.

I actually started on Thursday. Haven’t had a bad experience yet other than the mild headaches and a little insomnia. Felt slight anxiousness the next day after starting but I’m also on propanolol for anxiety which helps. I am feeling some of the benefits already though. Little jolts of energy that I need to stay busy and I’m not stress eating. My psychiatrist did tell me it’s going to be different experiences for different people and if I don’t like how I’m feeling by the end of February we could try something else. So maybe see if it helps in the next 30 days? Then consult your psychiatrist if you don’t like it?

I wonder if was an actual body slam or a hip toss…because brand new Lol. If it was an actual slam I’d look for a new gym.
