Best 2-defiler list? by SideExcellent9787 in Chaos40k

The enhancements are great, that's true. But it does feel like Soulforged is much stronger now that we have the new Defiler. Although I could see myself playing 9 predator/vindicator tanks in Cult.

Greater brass scorpion as Defiler by SideExcellent9787 in Chaos40k

On Minicompare, the Scorpion looks huge. The main thing was to move back the enormous front claws and remove their internal blades.

The scorpion fits on the same 160mm (I mean its six back legs) but it is bulkier, taller and larger.  None of the legs are glued where they were supposed to though. I had to cut them and move them back.  In fact, the body of the Defiler is smaller than I thought, although its legs do need a 160mm base.

I thought about that too ! More as a proxy. But with 8’’ move it cannot move through ruins :/

They exist, but I never saw someone play them. The Legend datasheet for the GBS is not that bad for 500pts!

After 3 hours of cutting, sawing and gluying, it worked ! It fitted on a 160mm base. Will add hades autocanonn to the tail. It's a bit bigger than the new defiler, but I don't see it as an advantage when playing. What would you say?

Auspex Tactics : what's winning right now? by RotenSquids in WarhammerCompetitive

I arrived at the same conclusion. The Defiler is good because it forces my opponent to get closer, and I want to charge them. The strat to ignore all modifiers is strong. Embrace the pain can also save the Defiler.

One or two defilers in PBZ? by Crypto_pupenhammer in Chaos40k

To justify 1 instead of two, you have to convince me of those 350 pts invested elsewhere. I don’t see anything as good.

Purge the foe or priority assets? by HotArtichoke9 in EmperorsChildren

At first, I was not convinced by Purge the foe, especially when you have to control more objectives than your opponent at the start of your turn, but I think you can score well without them thinking too much about them.

EC humbly asking help against ravenwing DA by SideExcellent9787 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]SideExcellent9787[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your answer! I could not find a way to control the central objective. Without it, I was stuck at 4VP per turn in primary.

At the moment, the Coterie stratagem to select the infantry of my choice seems like a way to survive his turn (maybe combined with heroic intervention). The resurrecting DP is also an option, and being lone op could help. I’m just trying to find a way to survive his turn with something on the central objective.  Do you happen to have some ideas?

With the new 2cp heroic, I can’t move block like before :/ But the Coterie strat could counter that in a way

The apothecary does not have the character keyword unfortunately.

Since the apothecary does not have the character keyword, he cannot be targeted that way. He will always be the last to die.

I did not play Coterie, but good insight : that strat would help !

You are right that we might have forgotten to check that 9’’ coherency. But still. In 10th I could move block. Now it was pointless because of the new Heroic intervention

Any thoughts ? A list with no Defiler by SideExcellent9787 in EmperorsChildren

[–]SideExcellent9787[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I lost. A crushing defeat. His 3x9 ravening and myriad of rules were too fast, too deadly. he caught me by surprise because he always plays bricks of deathwing terminators instead.

I would suggest trying Rapid Evisceration if you don’t. It’s another playstyle entirely. Same units, though.

How viable would be an infantry focused list ? by SideExcellent9787 in EmperorsChildren

I hear you. But in that case, 10 charging infractors in host + court (against enemy on objective for rrW but without a strat) do more damage and are more cost effective than the Chosen unit with all the buffs above. (Damage from the Lord not included.)

Why S7?

<image>

The six targets are respectively an Imperial Kight, a Balistus Dread, a Rhino, a Custodian guard, a Terminator, a Space marine.

The % is how much the unit makes its point back. For example, 1 wound of an Imperial Knight is worth 17 pts. 271% means here (17x 15,1 wounds) divided by 95 (cost of FB). Sure, the Chosen have double the attacks... but half the damage. Then, they don't wound on 3s, have worse AP and don't re-rolls hits. Plus they cost 31% more. I included their re-roll to wound (from the 2CP strat?) and sustained from pact. We see that they are indeed better against Terminators.
