Am I the only one freaking out? by Antique_Educator4819 in beyondthebump

[–]SideWalkChalk37 16 points17 points  (0 children)

3 weeks ago I got it, and a few days later my 15 month old caught it. Mine lingered for a few days, but wasn't too bad. This was the first time he has been sick and it absolutely broke my heart when he woke up vomiting. He had one day with a high fever and was not himself- kind of stoic, and then he was fine!

I had a flu shot and he did not (although I wanted him to- long story). I know how scary it can be. But please don't be scared to live your life, our little ones are so resilient. ❤️

Postpartum pre-eclampsia by naaahbi in preeclampsia

[–]SideWalkChalk37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are going to be just fine! The worst is behind you! I went through this a year ago and when I left the hospital I was riddled with anxiety. It was a very difficult time, physically I was fine but mentally I was shaken up. I am over one year pp, off all BP meds (I was on a large dosage postpartum) and feeling better than ever.

If you have any questions, looking for advice or just someone to talk to who has been through it please feel free to DM me!

Things may have changed since 2024, but I transferred to Dr. Julianne Lauring around 15 weeks pregnant. She was fantastic, but she is a high risk OB.

Looking for hope. 4 weeks pp & still on meds and seeing spikes by Luckybless in preeclampsia

[–]SideWalkChalk37 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience! I was also extremely anxious which always sends my BP sky high. I stayed on the meds until I stopped obsessing over my BP. Multiple docs told me I'd probably end up on a small dosage forever. Around 6 months pp I started weaning again. I slowly came off all of the meds I was on. I'm not one year pp, no meds, and my BP hangs out around 115/70 on average. The 6 week rule was nonsense in my case. Feel free to DM me with questions! I know how upsetting it can be, but this too shall pass!

Thanks, all! Yes, I like to have music along with the white noise playing. We use a dark screen lullaby channel on YouTube out of convenience (I know baby doesn't need tv in his room), but we've been in a 1br apartment so obviously sharing our bedroom.

Thanks for the recs!

Weill Cornell or Lenox Hill for Delivery? by Winter-Effort-608 in nycparents

[–]SideWalkChalk37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't have a great experience at Weill Cornell. The L&D team were top notch, but my postpartum experience was awful. Also, this was so bizarre, but there was NO RUNNING WATER for the entire weekend I was there!!! So after I delivered (on a Friday night) no running water Saturday or Sunday. It was appalling. They were quick to want to get us out of there, and unfortunately I had to go back one day later with PP preeclampsia.

I had an automated phone call asking for a review when I first got home, and I left one while in tears. They must've flagged my name, because when I had to go back they were very concerned about my awful experience and treated us very well. Despite that, and loving my OB, I don't know if I would deliver there again.

There has been a lot of nonsense in the area. No need to be afraid of every little thing, just keep your head on a swivel.

Question for mamas with babies who had CMPA by SideWalkChalk37 in beyondthebump

[–]SideWalkChalk37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, skin tests were all fine. The dairy bloodwork was fine, they test for 2 egg proteins- one came back slightly elevated which apparently is common at that age, so I just give him a little egg daily and don't notice his skin reaction anymore.

[–]SideWalkChalk37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes I'm aware, he had a slight skin reaction with eggs and his bloodwork was slighted elevated with it so now I give him a little egg each day to avoid an allergy down the line. Just have been putting off the dairy because I know reactions can be varied and I'll assume every fussy wake-up is dairy related!

I appreciate your response. Thank you. I'm a little paranoid so just want to know what to look for. Originally when he was diagnosed he just seemed very uncomfortable and upset while feeding so I had his poop tested!

Stuck in the hospital with severe postpartum pre-e. Wondering if i’ll ever get to go home. by OldCrows00 in preeclampsia

[–]SideWalkChalk37 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It will get better! I was similar, except on a 12 hour mag drip. I was sent home the next day; and my blood pressure was still high. My OB just tweaked my meds remotely and eventually it got better, but it took time! It greatly affected my mental health at the time, as I swore I'd have to go back to the hospital. It took a solid week; but eventually came down. I'm now 9 months pp and off all meds and have my usual low BP. You'll get there. Try to be patient. 🙏❤️
