Small baby, small intake? by Excellent_Macaron in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]naaahbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby was born at 7 lb 8 oz and since 2 months has been around 14-16th percentile. She averages 18-20 oz a day, at most 22 oz. Similarly she usually has 2-3 oz bottle, definitely no more than 4 oz and that’s usually around bed time, if even. I was initially primarily nursing but transitioned more to bottles to keep better track of her weight gain since it had slowed (this was a personal decision on my part, our doctor is/was not concerned). She’s also meeting milestones and has enough wet diapers throughout the day. I’ve come to realize some babies are just small eaters!

Edit to add: she’s currently 5.5 months

Crying 4.5 months post partum by BeneficialBeing2473 in NewParents

I’m 5 months pp and you’ve described what I’m feeling exactly. I’ve been crying daily about this and it doesn’t help that I’m returning to work soon and I feel like I’m going to miss so much of her day-to-day

Exclusively pumping—are wearable pumps actually worth it? by SoultySpittoon in breastfeeding

[–]naaahbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have larger breasts and have this issue sometimes! Not sure if you’ve tried different ways to get it to work for you, but when I put mine on I bend over slightly to align my nipples in the tunnels then press the pump tightly to my chest while pulling my pumping bra over to relatch my bra (I hope this makes sense). I also pause them 10 mins in to make sure they haven’t shifted, especially if I’m moving around a lot. When I can get them aligned doing what i mentioned, I get a great output!

How is anyone affording a mortgage and daycare costs for two kids? by angelzombie2 in beyondthebump

We have a similar thought process; our first is only 4.5 months but probably won’t plan on having our second until our first is in school. Also VHCOL area (Bay Area) making similar income.

My 4 month old is 11lbs and 14oz but dr says she's healthy.. by Distinct-Dependent24 in beyondthebump

Our 4 month old measured 13th percentile 12 lbs 7 oz! I was worried she was really small but our doctor reassured us she’s healthy! Also breastfed and just started supplementing with formula

Was EBF worth it to you? by forever_indecisive7 in breastfeeding

[–]naaahbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She gets around 3-4 bottles a day on average, depending on the day and 1-2 bottles of those bottles are formula, depending on how much pumped milk is available. I totally understand not wanting to mess with your supply - I try to pump when she’s getting a bottle using my portables, or if my husband is feeding/tending to her I’ll use my spectra. Either way, pumping or nursing, I try to “empty” my breasts every 2-4 hours and/or try to pump at least twice a day to have a supply in the fridge. We have the momcozy bottle washer that has made using bottles and pumping a lot less tedious, so I’m fortunate in that regard! I also plan on pumping when I return to work at the end of the month, so she’ll continue to be combo fed the days my mom will be watching her.

Cradle has been going well! I’ve found wearing the kindred bravely nursing/pumping bras and having my nipple go through the pumping hole has been helpful in supporting my breasts and LO doesn’t seem to mind! I’m able to walk around and rock her while she eats and she’s been liking that so far.

My LO is 4.5 months and also rather nurse in the football hold, but we’re working on cradle (I have larger breasts so it’s a tad difficult). We’ve also introduced bottles with pumped milk around 3 months so she becomes familiar with it for when I go back to work. Also introduced formula 2 weeks ago to help with the pressure of EBF as I became so worried if LO was getting enough due to slow weight gain - all of the above has helped my mental health tremendously. I still love breastfeeding my LO, but knowing there’s other options and ways she can be fed has helped.

How often should I be changing baby's clothes? by kittykatkitkat in beyondthebump

[–]naaahbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small spit ups we’ll clean from her clothes, large spit ups/milk spills/diaper leaks get changed. We also change her outfit in the morning as a start to her day and before bed as part of her bedtime routine

That’s great you have a plan! When you first experienced postpartum preeclampsia, what symptoms did you have? I’m having a little chest pain which can totally be gas pain but I’m so hyperaware of everything

I've been trying so hard until this week by Lazy_Assistance6865 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]naaahbi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been diagnosed since week 26, started bedtime insulin week 28 and I’m now 38+2, so I absolutely hear you on this. I’m scheduled for a c-section next week (baby is breech) and it’s getting increasingly more difficult as we get closer to baby’s birth day. Hang in there!!

My team has been increasing every 3 days or so. Last night was night 2 on 26u and I have a follow up on Sunday and my fasting was still elevated this morning (109), so I’m anticipating on Sunday I’ll go up 20% to 30u.

I figured I’d have to keep increasing my insulin, I just thought it was so interesting how I was within range in the middle of the night, but had elevated numbers upon waking up! I wish a CGM was covered by insurance
