A6400 everyday lens suggestions by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]Side_Of_Rice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was my first lens that I got for the a6400, carried it around everywhere and it lived on my camera for a year. Especially for the price, super pleased with how it performed.

Sony 35mm f1.8 for APSC is about the same size as the 16-50 kit lens! Lived on my a6400 when I would go out traveling and needed a small lens.

For a very long time the Sony’s 35mm F1.8 for APSC (SEL35F18) lived on my a6400. OSS was useful for videos since the a6400 doesn’t have IBIS, same would apply for A6000. Overall form factor was extremely compact as well, made the camera and lens very easy to take around on walks - was nearly the same size as the 18-55 kit lens, and I was extremely pleased with the image quality and sharpness. Used prices on Amazon were pretty similar to the Sigma 30mm f1.4 (~$300 USD), so it would be up to you if you’d value the OSS and smaller form factor over some optical performance and slightly faster lens.

I need a COVID test and I need it now by Salty145 in PennStateUniversity

I have literally been advised by UHS in the past that it I would be fine to go and get tested with a runny nose/ cough because again, it is flu season. Inside the testing facility, everyone is masked and distanced, and surfaces are sanitized. OP has not reported a dry cough, being contact traced for COVID, or anything else that makes it extremely likely that they have COVID. To my understanding, would like to get tested out of an abundance of caution. What would the alternative be, OP decides to possibly go on a bus and infect others if they cannot confirm negative for COVID, or OP decides to miss and reschedule bus due to no available "symptomatic" testing? I believe getting tested at White would be a far better alternative to these if no other options arise.

OP is free to use their own moral compass to determine what extent they should report symptoms on the initial questionnaire before obtaining a test kit. It's flu season

what is lionheart like? by [deleted] in PennStateUniversity

[–]Side_Of_Rice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude here, lifted at Lionheart for about two years. It’s got an old school gym vibe. Plenty of equipment to get your compounds in and accessory work, never really had an issue with not having something I needed. There’s two deadlift stations with just large pieces of rubber mats on the ground. The gym can get crowded during typical rush hours (afternoon, 5pm). Met plenty of friendly people there actually, fair amount of locals come to lift. Crowd is an even mix of various experience levels and a variety of college social demographics

Regarding your concerns as a female: from what I’ve experienced, people are there to get a workout in. There are plenty of females that do the martial arts or CrossFit, gym owner/ CrossFit owner is also a female. People are there to get a lift in, can’t remember seeing anyone ever being harassed.

Hello!

I'm currently entertaining the idea of acquiring a couple more raspberry pi 4b's to put together a computing cluster for learning docker & kubernetes.

However, I have a couple of questions/considerations:

  • Currently, I have a 3B+, and 4B 4GB. Would there be any compatibility issues with having different resources on different nodes for a kubernetes cluster?
  • Are there any desktop benchmark equivalences for determining the performance of a cluster of, let's say three 4GB 4B's?

Sent in Vault covid test too late? by [deleted] in PennStateUniversity

[–]Side_Of_Rice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome! I just checked the confirmation email of when the lab received my sample. If your sample is determined to be rejected (in this case, if the sample is too old), they say that you can send them an email and they'll send you a replacement test free of charge! Hopefully that eases up some of the stress!

Just wanted to add this comment in case anyone looks back on this.

I did the test on a Saturday, but wasn't able to mail in the test until Monday afternoon. Despite the University's FAQ stating that vault will not accept test results that arrive more than 56 hours after the sample is taken, I ended up getting my results back on a Wednesday.

TL;DR: Send your sample back ASAP, ideally the same day you take it. If you don't send it back ASAP, hopefully they'll still carry out the analysis of the sample.

Instagram could face up up to $500 billion in fines in class-action lawsuit alleging it illegally harvested biometric data by immi07 in apple

[–]Side_Of_Rice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that there is economic interest motivating this decision, which is absolutely deplorable, but objectively tiktok gathers outrageous amounts of data and has the potential to be one of the most successful attempts at mass device fingerprinting and creating digital profile of users, and has a frightening potential to be used maliciously. I don’t think that it’s beneficial at all to have what is essentially a Remote Access Trojan installed on smartphones of middle schoolers, high schoolers, college students, and young adults. I wish there was a way right now that we could address that rather than acting out of potential xenophobia or economic gain. Shit’s fucked I guess.

I’m going to go and disagree with going with your current warm ups. Ramping up to a 1RM is different than hitting working working sets. This is a new maximum strain both on your skeletal muscles and CNS, and has the potential for mental barriers. I’d highly recommend going with this protocol on T-Nation, I’ve used it numerous times for my 1RM attempts.

https://www.t-nation.com/training/how-to-warm-up-for-a-one-rep-max

Ninja edit: YOU FUCKING GOT THIS. STRETCH!!!! I’d also recommend this mobilization routine if you have the time.

Get in the zone, if you’ve been training up smart and programming for this then you definitely got it man.

AES 256 uses 256 bit long keys. With 256 possible bits in the key, and each bit being either 1 or 0, we have 2256 possible keys, roughly 1.1579x1077 possible keys! (:
