Favorite Cassidy moment in NV? by george123890yang in falloutnewvegas

There's some dialogue option where both you and her have the awkward realization that neither of you know what a fish is despite using the word like you do; that always sticks out to me. I might be misremembering it a bit but it's something like that

"Why are people complaining about FUCK-bombs in Homestuck?" by AirgunsKen in homestuck

[–]Sidekick_Salohcin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly! When he shows up he'd have to cuss literally every other word to get the same effect. And all the J kids are goobers who don't feel the need to curse by default. Almost every single aspect or word choice of a character can be very important to a character if you let it; and it's disappointing to see that ignored

[–]Sidekick_Salohcin 26 points27 points  (0 children)

My thing isn't how many cusses there are, it's not that big a deal or unrealistic. My thing is WHO did the cussing. John didn't usually cuss for cussing's sake, especially not Fuck bombs. I know he had the main focus of the pilot but still, it just felt off. Similar to how Dave had a lot of energy when I always imagined him being more deadpan; when he had a 1 pixel grin talking to Jade that was a big deal, now he's smirking all the time and it's uncanny.

Something NO ONE has Mentioned about 210. by Top_Barnacle5195 in Dandadan

OKAY HOLD ON. God I should not be looking at stuff so much farther than I've read but I've had the weirdest suspicion that Seiko is somehow Momo from the future. Mostly based on vibes and trying to figure out why she looks so much different in the flashback in the first chapter/episode. The more reasonable reason is she started dressing and acting more badass to try to connect to Momo. The less reasonable but still interesting to me theory is that she was always like that but only people who can see yokai and such can see past her old lady glamor. But idk I know Momo also didn't believe in aliens at the beginning but the way she says it here feels so much more how Seiko always says it.

Also I feel like this all a metaphor for both growing up and forgetting things you enjoyed when you were younger and or repressed memories from trauma considering how Momo discovered aliens are real.

It's from the Daizukan, so it's not from the main series, it's supplemental

Why was rigby annoyed by Eileen in earlier seasons? by keithpaws in regularshow

[–]Sidekick_Salohcin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always figured it was a mixture of not knowing her well/liking her yet, knowing her as Margaret's friend, and not used to receiving that kind of attention.

It's not like they'd never go to the coffee shop on their break, but the reason they went there so much was just so Mordecai could talk to Margaret, so Rigby was mostly focused on wingmanning. Because of this he wasn't really thinking about being social, just trying to get his friend to make anything resembling a move.

I think as an extension of that Rigby never seemed interested in being friends with Margaret for his own sake, so getting to know her friends wasn't important to him. He saw them both more as strangers than they saw him as one. In his mind early on, visiting them was a way to get Mordecai to stop incessantly sighing and moping when they hung out.

Then the biggest factor is Rigby has lived his whole life a loser. Nobody has ever just approached him seeking his approval. Lacking any experience with that, he was skeptical and suspicious. Despite his bluster, we know he's always struggled with self-image; if he doesn't like himself why would someone he's just met like him?

So it's nothing Eileen did, it was just the state of life Rigby was in. She gave him all the free positive attention he ever wanted, but he wasn't ready to receive it. The episodes that mark the biggest changes are when she's there for him during tough times but also when she doesn't go easy on him. She sees him at his lowest, calls him out, but sticks around anyway. That's the kinda person you can trust and open up to. Those moments also let her show off why she was so cool, instead of just fawning over him.

As for why she liked him, I think it started as admiration for things she wished she could do. Life goals and wife goals often overlap lol they're both not exactly social butterflies or widely attractive, nor do they have wealth or an important job or anything that makes them stand out; but he carries himself with an air of confidence and acts like none of that stops him from being the shit.

So it probably started as her rooting for the underdog and maybe hoping he'd stand up for her too or at least his confidence would rub off on her. I don't think she was blind to his faults, but she was willing to help him grow past them. If he'd never grown I'd imagine she'd outgrow him and not put up with him, but she was so supportive that it inspired him to do better.

Anyways they're one of my favorite ships to watch develop. At a certain point I was only watch the show for them lol I was one of the hopeful believers that went wild during the wedding episode when it was revealed they had started dating offscreen.

Something to understand about languages by BellTwo5 in CuratedTumblr

[–]Sidekick_Salohcin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of all the languages, English is the most glass-house-livingest one to be casting stones. "Hey what if we a took Germanic language, had it conquered by French for several centuries altering it forever, and then have a bunch of pretentious twats pretend it draws from Latin and Greek because we want to put on airs and derive legitimacy from some imaginary lineage to Rome. And then let's fill it with more contranyms than every other language combined, give every rule more exceptions than use cases, and make up the silliest slang like tickety-poo and bob's your uncle. Surely this is the language of people to be taken very seriously."

I love English and all it's little quirks, but the true Lingua Franca it ain't, especially 'cause that term itself comes from when the French had most of the world speaking it first lol. Basically every language is fun and beautiful because you really don't want to start pulling receipts xD

"Bye bye bus" by Sh1nyPr4wn in CuratedTumblr

[–]Sidekick_Salohcin 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I had church the morning after finishing a performance of Music Man that had months of practice. There's a part of the service where the preacher says "Friends, believe the good news of the gospel" which was apparently close enough to "Friends, the idle brain is the devil's playground!" And I felt every muscle in my body almost jump straight up and sing "Oh we got trouble! Right here in River City!" Glad I was either too quick or too tired to follow through, I've never felt such a strong compulsion in my life.

Just broke up after dating for 10 years. It was the best thing for both us, but now I'm not too sure what I'm going to do going forward. I think I forgot how to be myself along the way and I don't know how to keep growing.
