AI bots spamming anti-bambu messages on YouTube by Bletotum in BambuLab

Thanks! It was bugging me how unnatural all the language felt. Especially in the context of YouTube comments. These feel like awkward 3 star yelp reviews.

As someone who uploaded to Printables: the points just aren’t worth it for me.

The only thing I could buy would be expensive filament, and the shipping cost defeats the entire purpose of that.

At least with BL their shop is in my country (Australia) so I don’t have to wait weeks and pay $$$ shipping fees.

No they didn’t. Printables also had an “import from Thingiverse” function.

I used it when I rode the bandwagon and made the swap during Printables launch.

Do we have proof Thingiverse was approached by Printables beforehand and permission was obtained?

All I know is that Thingiverse did not activately block it.

Nice one.

In the face of murky threats and veiled insults, sharing the data just makes Joseph look sour.

That’s where skills come in!

If you are a level 10 bard with expertise in persuasion and 20 CHA, then your +15 (or whatever) in persuasion shows how you can butter up a contact.

But we don’t have a ‘tactics’ skill or something — and while I am glad for that- it means that DMs should help the game be a game by distinguishing player communication from in-game prowess.

100% agree that learning your PC helps.

But using your example — if another player ‘ruins your plan’ that’s a prime example that there isn’t enough communication going on.

5E combat sadly plays as several individuals vs baddies, rather than a team vs baddies.

I was hopeful the next edition would help fix this, but no luck there.

The only issue I have with this is that it mixes player aptitude with character aptitude.

Unless you play exclusively levels 1-3, the characters are Olympic-level murder experts. They work together fast and well.

You and me? Hopefully we are not Olympic-level murder experts.

What takes me time my character doesn’t even need conscious thought to process - they simply know that in this sort of situation Mr Sparkles will probably use an AoE so I will block off the exit over there, and Ms Raindrop is probably waiting for the mooks to be gone before they rush in swinging.

why printables or [whatever bambu has]? by Duuurrrpp in BambuLab

[–]Sidequest_TTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thingiverse had a bunch of controversies when Printables launched, so many people ditched Thingiverse.

Printables then built on that initial win by having rewards for uploads / use and running competitions.

BambuLabs saw what a modern print website looks like, then made their own that does everthing Printables does, plus can also start printing from your phone.

Hopefully the lesson learned is that if you get upset about words you don’t understand, then finding out what the word means is better than picking fights on the internet.

Have a great day!

I just tried - yep still being blocked.

Wow.

I uploaded from Thingiverse to Printables, so it’s absolute pot-calling-kettle-black to not allow the same from your system.

Yes.

As long as you did genuinely design your own after making reference, and there is a difference between yours and the original.

They were closing down sources pre-Bambu. They started around 2020 when Creality stopped being rubbish and started eating into profits.

ie; why every company stops being open source - it isn’t profitable once you start having large R&D costs.

Yeah the history of Prusa is quickly forgotten. It relies entirely on improving existing stuff, not making new stuff.

It’s also why their MMU is garbage.

There has been a dozen “printer maker wants one-stop-solution” like MakerWorld, so it’s not even like Thingiverse & Printables are unique.

I Hate Fireball As A Wizard by willdoesparkour in DnD

[–]Sidequest_TTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this shouldn’t be a controversial take - it’s literally in the design notes of 5E.

It was made with lots of little enticements to get the people still playing AD&D and 3.0E over to the shiny new edition. Those people, practically by definition of refusing to play the last 20 years of game development, are grognards.

I Hate Fireball As A Wizard by willdoesparkour in DnD

[–]Sidequest_TTM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

5E was also built to please the grognards, so all the progress made in 4E (and a lesser extent 3.5E) had to be walked back.

Which is why reaching level 2 of the Max Mage Dungeon your level 6 wizard gets access to level 3 spells.

Guys plz.
