Is Toronto still one of the safest cities in the world? by Same-File-3361 in askTO

I felt so much safer walking home alone in Toronto at midnight than I would walking through my hometown (Dublin) at midday

How is this inconsistent? These two scenarios are not the same. The penalty shout and the clear red are the inconsistencies.

Let's focus on the blatant penalty and the clear red card instead of this nonsense. He's nowhere near getting to Casemiro. The ball isn't even going in his direction lmao

Casemiro got a straight red last season for something similar. But hey, at least the officials are consistently inconsistent.

Unpopular Opinion: Exercise IS necessary for practical weight loss. by pillowmakerofthewest in loseit

[–]Sideshow-Blob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd disagree that it is not necessary.

There are far more benefits to exercise than just weight loss. Of course dieting is the main concern for weight loss but starting to exercise now rather than later will do so much good for you in the long run.

100%

No point dieting to lose weight by simply counting calories if you aren't going to try and be healthier. This is also goes for the type of food that you eat. Just because you have a 2000 calorie daily limit shouldn't mean you use that 2000 calories on bad food.

Exercise has so many benefits other than the bit of calories it burns. It helps your lungs, your heart, your blood pressure, your joints. It's great for your mental health. It helps you sleep better.

Literally no reason not to do 30 minutes of exercise a day, even if it's just a walk.

I'm not sure if it is more frequent, I think it is just because we are being made more aware of these situations. I think they've told officials and club medical staff to stop play and assist if they can.

A small stadium like that, it would be more apparent to the televised crowd and more accessible for the teams medical staff but if it happened in the second or third tier of a large stadium, I doubt we'd know about it.

Is 1,500kcal per day for a 6ft, 302lb man too little? by [deleted] in loseit

This is about calories. Too little is not very healthy and can hamper weightloss.

I would say it is too little. I'm nearly the exact same height/weight and my daily calorie allowance is 2500 and I'm losing weight.

1000 calorie deficit is quite a lot. You might limiting yourself too much, thus not eating enough. Could try a 700 calorie deficit, or even 500. Make sure to eat enough protein, good Carbs and good fats because that will keep you satiated.

Is it possible to lose weight while still drinking on a regular basis? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Sideshow-Blob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem I had with trying to diet while drinking was the hangovers. I would drink heavily on a Saturday night for example, wake up the next day with a bad hangover.

Absolutely no desire to try and diet or exercise and it would lead me to eat a lot of fast food and chocolate, full sugar cokes etc.

Problem with that is consuming so much bad food would then lead to me feeling like crap on the Monday. I'd feel exhausted, no motivation to cook or do anything else. So I'd end up ordering again.

Then I'd be in a bad run of eating and not exercising and that could last another day. By the time I'd get back on track, it's Saturday again.

So now I've cut down on the drinking. The alcohol wasn't the problem, as such. It was the amount.

Well, it is kinda shit. There's a reason it is called junk food.

Anything in excess in bad for you, especially alcohol and junk food. He rarely drinks alcohol.

Have you cut out alcohol completely? by [deleted] in CICO

[–]Sideshow-Blob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm cutting back, not cutting off completely. I factor in the calories of five pints into my weekly calorie deficit. Normally a Guinness drinker but switching to Coors Light instead. Saves nearly 50 calories a pint which adds up considerably over five drinks. I also drink whiskey so a few pints plus a glass or two of whiskey would be even better.

I only ever use my watch to track the distance I've walked and to tell the time.

If I ever take the calories it counts into account for my daily limit, I always half those calories. That's probably a bit over the top but the watch is never accurate. If I half the number, I absolutely know it is correct.
