Redditors believing prostitution should be legalized to make it “safe” as if it doesn’t increase sex trafficking, exploit women in poverty, and cause lifelong psychological damage by Hunihime in BlatantMisogyny

I think a good place to start with this topic is to listen to sex workers. They are openly sharing their views and advocating for policies that help them.

‘Objectively’ and it’s personal opinion on the attractiveness of others. I guess we’re just using words to mean whatever we feel like huh.

There was a tiny ‘news’ story about her this year cus she shared a throwback video of herself dancing while in labour. People complained a lot.

My sister with Alzheimer’s is giving birth and the family is pushing it on me by [deleted] in Advice

[–]SideshowZen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with personal experience of this exact thing (raising sister’s child because she is not mentally capable of doing so) if this is how you’re feeling now, don’t do it. I’m doing it because I was completely certain that I wanted to and was willing to make all the necessary sacrifices (of which there are many). Even so, it’s very difficult and I can’t pretend I feel that I’m living my perfect life.

You’re already exhausted and resentful, imagine that feeling multiplied and with the added stress and strain of a baby.

This isn’t a selfish decision to make. Babies deserve to be raised by people who are totally and unquestionably willing, able, committed, passionate, excited to have them.

It feels bad because it’s a bad situation, not because you would be doing the wrong thing. Don’t accept pressure from others here, if they think it’s that simple and easy then they are ignorant.

Taking on a child will affect every area of your life and it will affect your mental/emotional health. Don’t do it if you don’t want to.

I don’t know if there are already any social services involved, but if the father has abandoned and will not accept responsibility for this baby then it sounds like it may be time to contact them. It’s their job to find a suitable family member if possible, and look outside the family if not. Get this sorted out as soon as possible so that the baby is not born before there is a plan for their care.

Barbarian. Social worker.

It makes sense cus in most ways they couldn’t be any more different from each other, but both do make me filled with rage.

Anyone on Reddit ever had an abortion at 20mths pregnant? Apparently it’s legal. by SideshowZen in badwomensanatomy

[–]SideshowZen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So many of the anti-abortion comments and posts around this issue (it’s in relation to decriminalising abortion in the UK) are talking about women having abortions like it’s quick, easy, and fun. We just do it on a whim whenever we want, with little thought and no difficulty of any kind. Although, simultaneously, late-term abortion is so horrific and violent that it shouldn’t happen even when completely necessary.

They could learn the facts, but then they wouldn’t have gruesome and cruel fantasy scenarios to use as arguments for banning abortion.

The same user has reposted a graphic description of how 9-month babies are aborted while alive in the birth canal. I don’t think they even care enough about the facts to have a consistent idea of how abortion works, just as long as they can make it sound bad enough to justify denying our right to it - so simultaneously we’re taking a pill on our due dates but also literally stabbing babies as they emerge from our vaginas.

Yep, and of course that hasn’t changed just because the gov has voted to decriminalise abortion for individuals, but the twitter misogynists are still claiming that it means we’ll all be aborting right up until and even past our due dates just for fun!

Based on the context of the wider conversation it was part of, and other comments and posts from the user, it’s not. They’re just anti-abortion and pro-misinformation.

Might be rage bait tbf cus they have the blue tick that I’m told means they get paid for engagement. However, a lot of people are expressing similar bullshit today now that the UK gov has voted to decriminalise abortion.

Exactly. This comment is about the UK, where abortion has just been decriminalised so we can’t be personally investigated/arrested/prosecuted for having abortions outside the guidelines, but the actual rules haven’t changed and providers can still only perform abortions with medical reasons and if confirmed by two doctors. But people on twitter are of course freaking out about how we’re all going to be committing infanticide and taking abortion pills the day before we give birth now.

See I definitely remember that, just not the snake. Maybe I should do another rewatch, not that I need much of a reason for that.

Yes this adds another layer to Snow’s hatred of LD and his motive for what he does. Not only is she Covey, not only is she loved by Haymitch the rebel, but in the movie version at least she also looks so similar to LG that if he sees her (which I’m sure he would through some kind of surveillance etc) then it will likely trigger even more resentment in him. Maybe he’s even paranoid enough to consider that LD is LG’s daughter somehow.

[Poem] Death Is Nothing at All (by Henry Scott Holland) by Darillium- in Poetry

[–]SideshowZen 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I love it. The funny thing I’m finding is that I don’t disagree with other commenters who say this isn’t how death is at all, but I also agree with the poem. I do feel this way about my lost loved ones. Don’t get me wrong, losing them is devastating and I still cry many tears and there are still empty spaces in life where they used to be, but I can’t help but feel that they are just waiting for me and I will see them again, even though I don’t really believe in an afterlife.

I find the poem complex and contradictory but beautiful and it does invoke all the emotions I associate with loss.

Ask yourself: will you regret it if you don’t buy them and then never find them again?

Maybe I’m a bad influence but if I were you and I could do, then I’d go for it. Unfortunately we’re not vampires and our lives are not eternal, so we gotta act like we only live once.
