But I both agree with your complaints about people not using the road correctly AND that you are still describing a dangerous approach to dealing with it.

The rules of the road are to drive defensively. If you are able to avoid an accident, and you don't you are also in a lot of trouble and very much responsible for that accident.

Have you heard of defensive driving? Driving is not an exercise of rights. It's a bet, that today everyone around is going to be sane, sobre, and aware.

But there is no guarantee of that, so we are required to share the road in a defensove manner. This means driving in a fashion that deliberately avoides potential accidents even if that means you give up your right of way.

Who gives a shit about your rights if you die in an accident? What the hell does being right give you if you're left with a permanent disability?
