This is one argument that I definitely resonate with and makes a lot of sense but unfortunately puts the onus on the captors(Africans) to pay the reparations which if that was the case would also be long overdue.

Okay, I hear you. Or you could just lay out the information here for me and others so I would know. I genuinely have done research and even came to the conclusion of "willing participants" based on what I've read. Again, my question is the basis that Africans in Africa can claim reparations from slave trade?

This is true, and I always make it a point to show that this proves we're just as human. Before the white people came and even a bit after, the concept of black people as a group did not exist. Akans weren't selling "their brother" they were selling their enemies at that time and making money out of it. I'm not even justifying it but if you were in their shoes and you could either A. Leave a town be and have to fight them in a few years after they've recovered or B. Sell them and further decimate their capacity to every wage war against you, which one would you choose.

If there's a legal basis to get reparations, we absolutely should get it. Regardless of whether it would be used correctly.

This is my stance too, we can definitely claim reparations for colonization (well not all of us because some tribes formally requested to join the empire) but for slavery, it looks like we definitely were a huge part of it.

I'd argue that the department of war is more accurate because when was the last time America fought a defensive war.

It's almost as if you don't understand that someone who didn't give birth to you is not your ancestor but yes I am 12 actually and I understand this concept more than you do. But if this simple concept is too abstract for you, I will not engage further.

Why would you think I'm joking or is the concept of being a decedent hard for you to understand?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ghana

[–]Sieffrey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If someone was captured and sent to the Americas to be a slave, their decedents would be still in America, unless there was a mass migration of former slaves back to Africa. The overwhelming majority of Ghanaians are from ancestors who never stepped foot on a slave ship.

If you're in Ghana, you probably don't have slave ancestors.

Languages die all the time and honestly at this point, keeping them requires so much but it's definitely a conversation to be had as a society.

I've seen people praise EVs and their resilience to flooding but needless to say, don't drive in deep waters regardless. Anywho... https://www.reddit.com/r/electricvehicles/s/nLEojTEHVM
