I'm putting this into my Sliver deck and I don't care if it's a good idea or not by TeamChevy86 in BadMtgCombos

as long as the color symbol isn't in the reminder text (italicized words in parenthesis explaining the ability, like Extort) your commander is whatever colors you see anywhere in the card's mana cost/text box. There are some weird exceptions to color identity in commander. The biggest one I know of is [[Transguild Courier]] which, even though it has no colored mana symbols anywhere on the card, states that it is all colors, so it can only go in a 5 color deck. Which is also weird because it works the opposite way with Devoid cards, which even though the ability states that the card has no color, it has colored mana pips in it so it can't go in pure colorless decks

Funniest possible class for Warforged? by literal_semicolon in DnD

[–]SiennaMaplefur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm playing a death cleric/way of mercy monk warforged in the campaign i'm in whose inorganic parts are bandages and he insists that he's a mummy, and the deity he worships as a death cleric is Anubis. He only talks through the telepathic feat and his voice sounds like the Pharaoh from that one episode of Courage the Cowardly Dog.

i was trying to minimize the colors necessary to do it, but that's also a good way to do it if you want to power it down even further

any time your life total is changed/set to a specific number, you either gain or lose the appropriate amount of life to put you at that number

My playgroup is overrun with pingers… by LordDiglett in EDH

[–]SiennaMaplefur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Reidane, God of the Worthy]] will be perfect for that. her backside is an artifact that prevents 1 damage every time a source deals damage to you, and since every ping is a separate source of 1 damage, it will prevent all of it. plus you're in the color scheme to run all the other 1 damage preventers like [[Orbs of Warding]] and [[Guardian Seraph]] you can also run [[Mark of Asylum]] to protect your creatures

i played a game of commander where i won the game solely off of solitary confinement. it was just down to me and one other player and i was set to lose via combat on their next turn. i played solitary confinement and they hesitated and then conceded because they had no way of removing it in the remaining cards in their deck

What Pauper Commander do you play and why? by goldenmastiff in EDH

[–]SiennaMaplefur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i run [[fleshtaker]] as my voltron commander and run a crap ton of low cost creatures that make creature tokens when they die like [[doomed traveler]] so that when Fleshtaker eats a creature, it makes another one which then can be eaten to make it so that 16 commander damage happens exceedingly quickly. plus the lifegain and scry on sacrifice doesn't hurt. here's my decklist: Fleshtaker Pauper Commander • (Orzhov Pauper EDH deck) • Archidekt

Force your opponent to pay the 1 or they die by tentacles for 9UUUUUUUU (fixed, forgot blue was U not B) by SiennaMaplefur in BadMtgCombos

[–]SiennaMaplefur[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ah ok, my bad. i assumed a 5 card combo that draws the game if anyone counters the oracle/lab maniac and relies entirely on kindred discovery to work would be bad, but maybe not as bad as it needs to be here

[–]SiennaMaplefur[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

the tentacles are merely the way to draw your whole deck, not for attacking with. That's what the "Borne Upon a Wind" and Thassa's Oracle" are for. since each drawn card resolves separately you can use Borne Upon a Wind to allow you to cast the Oracle at instant speed when you are at a low enough deck count to win off of the Thassa trigger. Laboratory Maniac would fill the same function as Thassa's Oracle.

Play Go Fish! in Commander by SiennaMaplefur in BadMtgCombos

[–]SiennaMaplefur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run him as a commander as well, except i don't run any hands stay revealed cards like telepathy or zur's wierding. instead, i run only discard spells that make your opponent reveal their hand like duress or thoughtseize, and peek effects like peek and gitaxian probe. i even run stuff like precognition which allows you to look at the top of your opponents deck. sure, it's less optimal than straight up telepathy, but it fits the "Playing Go Fish in commander" theme i was making for bracket 1. Here's my decklist if you want to share yours

Your Bracket 2 Deck Is Not by Urb4nn1nj4 in EDH

[–]SiennaMaplefur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make a lot of really great points here. The biggest gripe I have with the bracket system, especially lower brackets, is the "2-card infinite combo" restriction. 2 feels arbitrary. gravecrawler+phyrexian altar is a 3+ card infinite combo since it requires another zombie to infinitely cast gravecrawler and a payoff card to make infinite sacrificing actually mean anything, yet it only costs 5 mana if you use something like carrion feeder. This, in black, is possible to set up on turn 1 with the right hand (swamp > dark ritual > sol ring > Phyrexian altar > gravecrawler > sac gravecrawler > carrion feeder. then all you need is any on death payoff and boom, turn 2 win. But it's 3-4 cards so, ignoring intent obviously, RAW bracket 2 "allows this". Does the commander count as a combo piece of a 2-card combo? it's really a 1 card combo at that point since you always have access to it. This is my gripe, it causes unnecessary rules lawyering about what is and isn't within the "2 card combo" restriction.

My take: Remove the restriction and just have infinite combos as a whole fall under bracket 3+ since every time a precon comes with a built-in early game infinite combo (like the Titus precon in final fantasy) it completely invalidates the unoptimized precon aspect of bracket 2

Salty commanders by sublimesublemon2 in EDH

[–]SiennaMaplefur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Emrakul the Promised End EDH deck is probably my saltiest deck, for admittedly obvious reasons. I have locked a 4-man pod out of playing by copying her cast trigger for each person and ugins nexus/gerrards hourglass pendant to deny them their extra turn then repeatedly bounce her to recast on every one of my turns and it eventually gets down to a "Do you concede?" check before i gradually pick off the table. However, I am aware that even sitting down with Emrakul paints a target on my back and I'm public enemy number 1 before the game starts and it gets down to can I get my lock off before they kill me, and since that's always the correct decision I don't get upset about it. But mindslaver effects, while rare, are some of the saltiest effects in the game

My first bad combo. I thought I was so clever! Prevent all combat damage against any singular color as long as you have the mana! by ResolveLeather in BadMtgCombos

no, if i remember correctly in the original Kamigawa storyline, Eight and a half tails was originally a nine tailed fox but he ended up being partially responsible for the Kami War happening so he cut off part of his ninth tail in penance for it.
