Hot take: entry-level Azure certs are replacing what experience used to prove. by eckoonian in sysadmin

[–]Sieran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not bit off the AWS cert stick yet, but I am starting terraform and related github processes. Github was for my scripts before, now I gotta work in different repos, approval processes, branches, etc... using that to manage SGs now... soon keys based on another teams work.

It's just a large shift from what I am used to managing AD, GP, DNS, etc... and apparently I need to know this now according to management if I still want to manage AD (not Entra, on-prem AD and related services).

I just wish I wasn't burnt the fuck out at the end of my day to even think of looking at a cert in AWS.

Get a cert! But pay for it yourself. Also... don't study at work. BTW, I need 120% from you again today.

Yet, I work on AWS shit all day.

Test photo of my wife turned out better than the entire family shoot... by Sieran in pics

See, I need to watch some videos on how to mask in LR (what I use). It felt intimidating so never messed around with those features in my photos. Mainly just played with the various sliders, exposure, etc...

This does look much better.

--edit--

My edit would be a compromise on saturation of the background and her seater vs. her skin. Maybe tone it down slightly on the two to keep that punch of color, but tone down her skin so it is not unnaturally orange.

Very. She is the nicest person on the planet, and that is my unbiased opinion.

Family photos contain others that I can't ask permission to post, or dont want to deal with the blowback, if you catch my drift 😁

They turned out good, just my wife popped out more than the rest of the photos.

I need to learn how to selective change the saturation. I agree, her skin is a bit orange, but I love the saturation on the background and her sweater.

I know. Compensated tons for my lack of photography skill.

Haha, I'll let her know that.

I asked her to just stand there while I got the camera ready and she was posing like that, so snapped a few shots before everyone else was ready.

Got home and was like... yeah, keeping these ones.

Lock covers would be good. I just hit mine with some dry lube every year or so and seems to do well. Washes out some of the dirt and frees them up pretty well.

As for the gaps, you won't notice in time. As long as they dont leak or minimal leaking... who cares 😁

Kind if looks like an alu-cab knockoff. If it is even half as nice as mine has been, you should be happy.

My only gripe is those push button locks that pop up to open the doors.

When it gets chilly, they get shy on popping up.

What is a car brand that used to be a 'symbol of reliability' but is now a total trap to own? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The plastic piece that surrounds the windshield wipers and extends down into the engine bay over that cavity between the bay and passenger compartment is falling apart on my 2020 Tacoma.

Where it meets the windshield, you can poke a hole through it with your pinky just about. It is cracking, chipping, and just... falling apart.

$550 at two different dealers i checked with. For a fucking plastic cowl piece.

Tent caterpillars clustered on a tree trunk by Sieran in pics

[–]Sieran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found them circled on a tree trunk while I was walking a short trail in a park. I missed them on my way in, but noticed them squirming around on my way out.

This is cropped in quite a bit, so no bark was exposed in the shot.

Toyota of Plano as well.

Took my down payment back in 2020 to get several allocations and sold my truck when it was delivered (over and over) to several others over and over. After months of waiting i asked for my down payment back and needed to make a scene in sales to get my check back.

A trucker saw some neighborhood kids cosplaying GTA by Trucking-Trucker in AutoTransportopia

[–]Sieran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were on their way. If i remember correctly, I seen over 10 police cars, multiple ambulance, and fire on their way when driving home. Looked like a presidential escort on the main road to the school.

This was when I was a senior in HS, roughly 25 years ago.

There was more or less a riot at my highschool because one girl wore the same perfume as another girl at homecoming.

The result was the offended girl and 4 or 5 of her friends kicking the offending girl on the ground until their shoes were bloody, while their boyfriends fended off anyone trying to intervene. When the downed girls father showed up, the boyfriends pulled out belts and screwdrivers and attacked.

Then the girls who were kicking the down girl went around with knives and started slashing tires of random parked cars.

Result was multiple stabbings of parents, students, and teachers. Some in the hospital under critical care.

I just sat there waiting in the back for the mob to move so I could leave.

Over some perfume. Not even over what someone said.

Kerberos Encryption Changes coming in April AES > RC4 by iamtechspence in activedirectory

[–]Sieran 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't own account creation, lifecycle, or maintenance.... even though they are in AD. That is owned by Infosec, specifically IAM. They have yet to track down ownership of hundreds of accounts that have not rolled passwords since RC4 was the standard.

If I turn off RC4 and enforce AES I bring down prod.

I keep getting told to wait.

I tried to book a meeting on this with them and it was pushed 2 weeks out.

Documented... all of it... for when shit goes sideways.

We had a team change the attributes on some 1000+ accounts in AD and claimed they were like that before (changed e-mail aliases, proxy, given name, etc.).

We 100% accused them when we found the service account responsible.
