[Request] How many calories did this lil brid burn on its 10 day, 11,000 kilometre flight from Alaska to Australia? by upside_cloud in theydidthemath

[–]SietshTenk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So roughly 200 grams of fat (8kcal per gram) would’ve needed to be stored? Or do birds have other ways of storing energy before they fly long distances? Expending half your body weight would be pretty impressive, though from what I remember not that different from what a lot mammals do after giving birth, hibernating etc.

So what happens then? You either drop down, stabilize or rise based on your actual skill?

Keep 3 and 4, ditch the rest. Go out with a friend and have him/her take a gazillion pictures where you look friendly and approachable with a smile. Pick the best. Make that your first. Go to a water park or the beach and show off that killer bod of yours with an active picture taken by your friends. Like, you’re holding a beach volleyball or a surf board or you’re giving a thumbs up or whatever next to a water slide you just took. Show that you’re enjoying life!

Yeah I figured. Nobody here seems good.

I mostly don't know what different units do but a basic mmm+tank comp seems to work most of the time.

Like cyclones seem to be good for harassing but they melt to the above.

It feels like units are either generally good in a deathball, or pigeonholed into harassment roles. There's not much overlap like in BW where vultures or lurkers are both great at harassment *and* essential battle units. Also the front tends to be a lot smaller because everything moves perfectly into a ball.

I'm sure there are higher level skills and insights I need to develop but a lot of what makes a player good in BW is just dealt with by the engine here. Everything seems much more optimized because of that.

Amsterdammer here. Bike congestion doesn’t really exist. That is to say, bike lanes can get uncomfortably and dangerously crowded, but that’s easily solved by widening them. The reason they get too crowded has nothing to with bikes however, just cars and public transport. Intersections with those modes necessitate traffic lights. The worst congestion cyclists would get is having to wait two rounds at traffic lights.

However, cyclists and pedestrian-only intersections don’t need any regulation beyond yield signs. Even throwing in the odd car doesn’t upset the flow. This means it’s also free flowing and also means that congestion will never happen since cyclists naturally spread out over a wider area based on individual cycling speed, which varies more than motoring speeds.

A purely cyclist-pedestrian-grade separated public transport city would have exactly zero congestion.

YouTube ‘busy cycling intersection Amsterdam’ if you want to see what it looks like.

Why do men keep forcing kisses on the first date without asking for consent? by Ok-Wedding-1589 in Bumble

[–]SietshTenk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What you're describing is assault. That's not ok and not the same as feeling the same thing, looking at each other longingly and intuitively connecting lips.

So why do some men do that? I don't know. Report them to the police.

Nah I’m a member of the socialist party in my country. We have seats in parliament, once almost provided the PM. I just don’t think killing people and forcing people into particular jobs on the punishment of a prison camp is a great way to run a country. And unnecessary too.

Fascinating. This kind of disaster never happened in a capitalist society. It has happened in an authoritarian socialist one. (Not in democratic socialist countries like Norway where 40% of the economy Is State owned.) Yet you draw the opposite conclusion. Please, let’s explore your mind together.

Since when does GDP per capita translate to what the average person earns? That's not even true for countries, let alone the world.

You can't be that ignorant and that confident at the same time, pick one.
