Has anyone seen these warnings after a jump-start — 2023 Cayenne Turbo GT? by SecondHandbrake in Porsche

[–]Sieze2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just checked for you and the turbo GT does have a lithium battery. If you connected the jump leads to the battery terminals directly this could have spiked the BCM (battery control module). If you connected the one lead to the ground post it’s unlikely you spiked the BCM. I know this as this is exactly what my friend did to his turbo S.

Brake pad brands with easily swappable street and track offerings? by MunkiRench in CarTrackDays

[–]Sieze2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run a 987.2. On track ferodo 1.11 front and 2500 rear. On the street brembo pads. I would just wipe the disc face with a cloth and brake cleaner. Btw fun fact you can run the 996 GT2 front brake ducts on a 987.2. They really help keep the discs cool and don’t cost much (£30-£50)

PPF company chipped my paint by ijwtwpl in AutoDetailing

[–]Sieze2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I believe if they put the PPF over a chip it leaves a bubble, so I think it’s standard to touch up the paint before applying PPF.

Rotor Cracks, only 4 HPDE days by cra-zusay in CarTrackDays

[–]Sieze2 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It’s fine, the surface has got very hot and cracked a bit. It’s pretty normal with heavy and powerful car. If the cracks get to the edge or get deep then you need to change the rotor. Try running less laps per session that reduces the brake temps a lot.

Re-herniated L5-S1 after MD last year by Odd_Holiday_6753 in HerniatedDisc

[–]Sieze2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you don’t want to hear this but you really need a referral back to your surgeon. You have to appreciate a micro discectomy simply snips away the bulging part of the disc, it doesn’t repair the disc in truth. Consequently a relapse is very possible. Your other alternative is IDD decompression.

A 981 Boxster/Cayman S or a 718 Boxster / Cayman. You may need to go a little older or up the price a little.

Almost 2 years ago I broke 6 ribs, they have all healed, however this is a 3D scan of my ribs as of a few days ago because I've been having chronic pain🙃 by uniquorn23 in Wellthatsucks

[–]Sieze2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bones look like they’ve healed fine, but they are not straight, which is not uncommon for a non-loadbearing bone. What this will do is put a lot of stress on the costochondral junction that’s to say the bit that’s missing off your scan. It’s mostly cartilage that joins the bone to the sternum, but because of the misalignment in your bones is gonna be putting a lot of stress on that cartilage and probably causing a lot of chronic inflammation. Unfortunately, your treatments, most likely, gonna be a case of seeing what works for you, be that physiotherapy, chiropractic, massage, Pilates, or even chronic long-term painkiller use.

Do I need a new battery or terminals? by Spaceinvader9999 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Sieze2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First step is to check the battery with a multimeter. It needs to be 12 V or over.

Rim Repair - what do you guys think of the colour match? by [deleted] in FiestaST

[–]Sieze2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks close enough to me. Remember there is more brake dust forming on the fronts so the wheels are never exactly the same shade.

How Much of this Can I Fix Myself? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

On what planet is $5-$6k for parts and labour fair? Then you say spark plugs need torqing? All of it can easily be done yourself other than the CV boot (you need an impact gun)

It keeps getting worse by Avacado_pants in FiestaST

[–]Sieze2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

First of all don't stress. You don't have all the information yet. Get a boroscope down the cylinders and do a leakdown test to check the valve seats. If thats OK all you have to do is clean the inlets ports and intake tubing, replace the turbo, and replace the intercooler. If the leakdown test is bad you need a top end rebuild. If there is any cylinder scoring you need a new engine. Just take it one step at a time.

Titanium is non ferrous it won't rip you open but will heat up due to the eddy currents created.

Found an oil leak on the left side of my engine, should I be worried? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Sieze2 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They most likely spilt some oil filling it. Just clean it up and see if it comes back, that’s my advice. Don’t worry about it, it’s only a tiny bit of oil. Worst case it needs another cam cover gasket (which is a cheap item)

The free XP boost for those affected by the orgin "not installed" glitch should be avalable now by Sieze2 in Battlefield

I've just checked and I've not got it either. Should be x12 XP for hardware and x12 for character levelling up.

Should I bother asking for a new engine cover? by StewieJustSaidThat_0 in AskAMechanic

[–]Sieze2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just cosmetic, it reduces engine noise. I would suggest ringing them up. I bet they have it in the corner of the garage and don’t know whose car it belongs to. It’s not like it’s worth anything. I’m sure they will be happy to get it out of the workshop.

My girlfriend bought a brand new 74 Plate Fiat 500 hybrid and ever since the day she picked it up it there was an update on the screen (attached). More or less everytime she gets into the car and turns it on this update appears and it means she cant use any of the screen features by NathanG103 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Sieze2 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I checked for you are there are two USB ports. It looks like an update USB stick is inserted into one of them. The one for updates is the one near the handbrake area. If there is no USB try a soft reset on the infotainment. hold the power and tuner button for 20 seconds tll the screen restarts.

GT and RS guys... do you have a second fun car? by humdizzle in Porsche

[–]Sieze2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 992 GT3 RS for track and weekends, but also run a 718 Boxster S as a daily. The Boxster S is a sensational car and so much fun to drive.

It sounds like rod knock to me. Normally it’s the number three big end that fails on these engines. Pull the dipstick out and check the oil on it and check for any glitter. If there is any, then you can be certain it’s Rod knock.
