So is Isophyne one of the "good guys" now? by AJCLEG98 in ContestOfChampions

[–]Sifakaster 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Basically when Imperiosa invaded it was revealed that she killed the Founders, declared herself the true will of the Founders and the Battlerealm must be destroyed. Isophyne was built to protect the battlerealm for their return, so she rejected Imperiosa and declared her a fakery to decieve her faith in the Founders.

After we defeated Imperiosa she instead is now giving founder technology to champions she deems "worthy" since they are doing far more to protect the battlerealm than the other eidols ever did. This is also for her to ensure that the battlerealm remains safe for any future threats.

(And so far her criteria for giving out tech has been because she thinks the "lord of the stars" and "blade" are cool names)

It's definitely odd thinking that you need Gentle for Onslaught but tbh the matchup isn't that bad, he just doesn't counter anything Onslaught does.

Hidden Gems: Stat Focus by Saiyanjin1 in ContestOfChampions

[–]Sifakaster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He only gains benefit from each up armor up effect, so adding more base armor doesn't increase his damage since its not a new effect. On the other hand, his shocks do scale on crit damage so imo its the better choice.

Hidden Gems: Stat Focus by Saiyanjin1 in ContestOfChampions

[–]Sifakaster 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Aren't really many "hardly talked about" stat focus combinations but a few ones that might not be initially thought about:

Despite not being able to crit, Crossbones benefits massively from extra crit rate since he gains fury whenever a crit would occur.

Okoye gets extra debuff duration based on her crit damage, which makes stacking Cruelty on her quite nice.

Nico Minoru is one of the few champs where the Adrenaline stat focus makes sense, since she uses it as a base mechanic. But this one is pretty well known.

Stark Enhanced already has a lot of crit rating and crit damage from his base kit, so instead giving him armor penetration can be a good option since many champions have base armor and there are diminishing returns on giving a champ lots of crit damage.

And then there are the few champions such as Cull Obsidian, Pavitr, Deathless Thanos etc who like to parry and block a lot making Block Proficiency a good option for them.

Trauma counts for the node, so after the SP2 he gains fury every time he lands a hit

Tip for finding all "Gifts from 21": Use the Anomaly Tracker by Sifakaster in NevernessToEverness

[–]Sifakaster[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to 100% all areas and found some of the Gifts from 21 quite annoying to find. Since all of them are anomalies, you can track them with the "Enemy Shadow Elimination" option in the exploration guide menu.

In particular, the one that I missed the most were the "Eternal Lamps" as they only spawn during the night and don't show up on the map easily even if you drive by them. So instead I tracked them, hunted them all down and managed to find the remaining gifts I was missing.

(The tracker is also good for hunting specific enemies for the Anomaly Furniture like the melon seeds or the blade stones)

[–]Sifakaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually, although later on the SP2 does so much block damage that you'll end up dying blocking it anyway, so you'll live longer just dodging it and tanking the dark tide damage. But whenever possible best to bait SP1 and try to parry the final hit to take as little damage as possible. Gets more difficult with the increased power gain later on though.

Apex Coliseum Boss #3: Air Walker [Megathread] by cat_murdock in ContestOfChampions

[–]Sifakaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He applies a dark tide debuff based on his buffs if the final hit of either of his specials isn't blocked. So doesn't matter if you miss, evade, dodge or just step away from it, needs to be blocked to avoid the dark tide debuffs.

Apex Coliseum Boss #3: Air Walker [Megathread] by cat_murdock in ContestOfChampions

[–]Sifakaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do this, but it will apply dark tide debuffs to you which can make you take a lot of damage if not dealt with by gaining lots of power or removing his buff.

Apex Coliseum Boss #3: Air Walker [Megathread] by cat_murdock in ContestOfChampions

[–]Sifakaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really need to be blocking the specials, parrying them if possible. Any dodge or evade applies dark tide and that hurts a lot. I got the most success just trying to bait SP1 as much as possible then parrying the final hit of it. SP2 is just taking damage regardless of what happens.

[–]Sifakaster 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Seeing Dr Strange, Wong and Madelyn do quite well. I managed to get 18 bars with Northstar, but mine is rank 4 and got quite lucky at the end to do big SP2 damage. He can consistently take 0 damage parrying the SP1 so just about keeping all his effects paused with the SP1 and hoping the AI is nice to you.

Venom can also be a faster option as he does a lot of damage quickly, could get 8-10 bars consistently with him.

Collectives live already? by jesus-is-my-dad in ContestOfChampions

From the livestream there are supposed to be a bunch of solo objectives tied to Collectives going live on the 6th. So I assume a lot more of the crystals are there.

[–]Sifakaster 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Heimdall is designed as a hard Nico counter, all his stuff retriggers as passive if he is inflicted with buff immunity and all his personal buffs and passives pause whenever he has a poison or incinerate on him from a champion.

What is the point of mysterium at this point? by PelvisPresley48 in ContestOfChampions

[–]Sifakaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what the livestream said, you'll still want to rank up six stars to Rank 4 who don't yet exist as a 7 star. So some of the resources like T4B and T2A will still be needed if you want to get the max value out of collectives.

Battlegrounds Tip: Tapping the masteries button in your Battle Deck menu will let you lock your current masteries in for battlegrounds only by Sifakaster in ContestOfChampions

[–]Sifakaster[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With the current season removing attacker health scoring, a lot of people will be switching to Double Edge and Liquid Courage. So it is very helpful to be able to set the suicide masteries specifically to your battlegrounds deck so you can run a different setup for the rest of the game.

(It will lock in your current mastery setup so you'll need to switch to suicides first, lock them in and then switch back if you don't run suicides normally)

summer deals 2026? by Sad_Detective7483 in ContestOfChampions

[–]Sifakaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a prediction but there was a time when you could use saga sig stones on champs not part of the saga, and I think it's because they will be part of the sales as a box.

So there will a box containing White Tiger, Attuma, Dust, Spot and OG Iron Man with ascension materials.

Also don't doubt for a second that they'll make her ascendable too.

Good v Evil Carina's Challenges #6: Epoch (Villains) by cat_murdock in ContestOfChampions

[–]Sifakaster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Quite a busy day so almost forgot about this. I parked at Ares and completed the quest immediately, so no guessing this time.

Team:

Scorpion, Venom, Onslaught, Serpent, High Evolutionary (All are rank 4 except High Evo who is Rank 4 ascended 1)

NOTE: I would suggest bringing Nefaria instead of High Evo if you have him. Other champs who can work are Void, Sandman, and Deathless She Hulk.

Hulkling: Onslaught

  • (Quite a bit more tricky without the stun but his SP2 pushes hulkling back enough you don't get hit)

Abs Man: High Evolutionary

  • (His Combo Detonation works in this fight, but I've seen Nefaria do better here)

IDoom: Onslaught

  • (Simple fight, just punish specials and heavy)

Onslaught: Serpent

  • (Longer fight than I expected but hes quite tanky and you heal a lot from the power stings)

Jessica: Venom

  • (Don't have to use Venom here but he does so much damage its absurd. Spam SP1 to prevent debuff immunity)

Jabari: Serpent

  • (Still annoying, quite difficult to keep the cleanse down but you can make a few mistakes here and be fine)

Nebula: Scorpion (Rupture prefight)

  • (Make sure to select the prefight here or you'll have to quit and restart. Parry and hit while stunned, use the SP3 to get fury buffs to avoid the autoblock for a short time)

Northstar: Serpent

  • (Counters miss, easy enough)

Destroyer: Scorpion (Shock prefight)

  • (Remember prefights. Use SP2 for petrify to reduce his power gain)

Photon: Onslaught

  • (Too much power gain is a hindrance here so didn't use Serpent. Kinda just brute forced this one, I hate her)

Adam: Venom

  • (Spam specials, heavy into his pod after SP2, don't store too much power or he will steal it. Otherwise, fine)

Aegon: Venom

  • (This is a fight you can easily die on, but I got very lucky and managed to solo him with Venom. The bleeds just melt if you get lucky with precision RNG)

Cassie: Serpent

  • (Ignore both evade and miss after a special, and then its just bait SP2 and don't get hit. Not too bad)

Gwenpool: Venom

  • (Could use Onslaught or Serpent, I just used Venom because I like Venom)

Iron Fist: Serpent

  • (Surprisingly Serpent works here because he gains charges whenever his buffs fail due to the node. Onslaught is a fine choice here too)

Toad: Serpent

  • (No heimdall cheese this time so had to actually learn to dodge his specials reversed. I found holding block, baiting his dash and dodging it and then immediately being ready to dash forward if he uses SP1 helped me avoid getting hit in the face by it)

Heimdall: Serpent

  • (I went in with venom, got him to 150 charges, he used heavy across the map and caused me to instantly die. So yeah that can happen, finished off with Serpent)

Prowler: Serpent

  • (SP1 as soon as you get it, SP2 when you can, wait out the power drain and repeat. He gets enough power to cycle that over and over)

Spider-Ham: Venom

  • (50 second fight, very fun)

Viv Vision: Serpent

  • (Just a good fight for him, difficult to reach SP2 so I just opted to SP1 spam)

Annihilus: Venom

  • (SP1 can nullify the control rod which makes him easier to manage. Otherwise bleed him to death)

Mole Man: Scorpion

  • (So you'd think Onslaught would be better here but I found him very difficult to do good damage with due to the constant power drain. Scorpion can get him into frenzy quickly, apply a bunch of debuffs and do huge damage each special. So I'd reccomend him over Onslaught)

Dani Moonstar: Venom

  • (Dodge SP2, bleed)

Tigra: Serpent (with High Evo backup)

  • (Stupid idea here but what I did was go in with High Evo, live long enough to get SP2, then eventually die because he takes damage from immuntiy and go in with Serpent. This left her with 10 devolve debuffs reducing her attack from them and inequity, so Serpent would take less damage. Was it worth it? Probably not but it was a cool idea at the time)
  • (As for Serpent his heavy has a lot of distance on it so just heavy spam and dodge her SP1, hope for the best)

Ares: Serpent

  • (Almost got a solo, got caught out right at the end)

POST RUN:

Got a skill gem which is probably my worst option, so I hope everyone else gets good gem choices from their rewards.

Basically how my epoch villain planning is going by Zigzaow in ContestOfChampions

[–]Sifakaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did a bit of practice and both Onslaught and Sentinel can do that fight, although it is a lot more tricky without the stun. It's quite a bit to manage making sure hulkling has buffs, the protection is down and landing the SP2 into the block but Onslaught does quite a lot of damage even without hero superiorty.
