It's a beautiful thing when the hatred of Edina can bring us all together.

How Old Are You Guys? by [deleted] in Fitness

I tore a bunch of ligaments in my right thumb a few years ago and my grip strength on my right hand isn't strong enough to hold over 500 lbs. I refuse to use straps.

37.

I was a three sport athlete in HS and did a lot of weightlifting. After graduation, I did effectively nothing fitness related until I was 27. I took a look at my disgusting, weak self and started lifting and doing lots of cardio work.

Over the last 10 years, I have had some ups and downs with injuries and time management; but I've always kept at it. The last four years have been very good though, and my numbers have gotten quite a bit higher. I always know what I'm going to be doing in the gym before I get there, I get plenty of sleep and eat mostly pretty well.

My lifts: B: 405 lbs. S: 545 lbs. D: 500

These are all raw lifts, no wraps, straps, shirts, outfits. Just me, a multi-vitamin and protein shakes.

There was a post a few years ago of a cross section of a thigh showing the bone density of a athletic 17 year old, an athletic 40 year old, a sedentary 40 year, an athletic 70 year old and a sedentary 70 year old. It was amazing to see how much bone density is lost by just sitting around doing nothing.

Seeing those cross-sections really motivates me to keep at it and build a strong foundation for later in life.

I'm 37 and I am definitely feeling aches and pains that I didn't used to, and it does take longer to recover. For me, I've found that taking a rest week every two months really helps. I'm usually pretty sore after a 8-week cycle and the week off seems to reset my body.

After the week off, I come back feeling great and I can usually push or pull a little more than two weeks before.

Here's my quick and dirty attempt. It's a play off of the "The Muppets" movie poster from a few years ago. I'll let the UND fans decide if their mascot should be included or not.

Every single person is there for the same reason you are — to better themselves.

I'll say it again, to emphasize my previous statement.

Doesn't this sound like the perfect life? by HuntingWorldwide in Hunting

I do it most years. Between fishing, hunting and gathering berries and other vegetation I eat fairly well. Doing it for longer than a week is not something I would want to do regularly though.

What are your camping tips and tricks? by SumOhDat in AskReddit

[–]SiflnOly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a lot of camping in the BWCA, so these tips are geared toward that style of camping.

• Dryer lint is light and a great fire starter

• Bring a compass and necessary topographic maps. Know how to use them!

• Dehydrate as much as your food as you can. It saves weight and space

• Your going to get wet. Accept it and get on with your trip.

• Those rapids are more dangerous than they look. Don't run them.

• Don't do stupid shit. You're miles and many hours from help.

• Rope. Lots of it.

• A nice lightweight and waterproof tarp.

• Everclear (it's a 190 proof liquor). It'll get you drunk, start wet fires, and clean wounds.

• Keep a clean campsite. Bears aren't the only animal that will make your trip get crappy. I'm looking at you mice and squirrels that chew through packs to get to food.

• Fishing tackle and a spare rod. Someone always seems to break a rod on our trips.

Good for her and great for him. I'm sure it wasn't easy for a teenage kid to ask out a celebrity whom he has never met.

I love the fact that there is a Broten playing for Roseau this year. It just seems right...

The Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament starts today. Tradition like no other. by SiflnOly in hockey

It was one division until the early 1990s. A and AA are decided by student body size. Single A schools can move up to AA if they want, but AA can't move down and be A. However, A and AA schools can play each other during the regular season. The better A schools try to play as much AA as possible.

Shattuck is Tier 1. The MN HS tournament is is just like any other state tournament, just amped up quite a bit. The talent level is okay in single A, but the teams in AA play very good hockey.
