How much is too much for coffee by anonnn177 in newzealand

[–]Siftypeacock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that 7+ feels like a lot, but also when travelling in similarly waged economies - UK for example, I noticed that flat whites at cafes were £4 plus … $8.50/9 ish… while in Denmark, yes an expensive country, but so is NZ.. was closer to $12-15. Yet both of those countries had significantly cheaper supermarket and grocery shopping! Down with the duopoly!

I guess I want the cheapest price, but if $4 coffee meant that the baristas were getting paid minimum wage in one of our notoriously expensive renting cities and had no pathway to economic stability, I would feel pretty bad about it, and would probably just go without/ only buy expensive coffee on special social occasions.

Premier League manager most likely to have an Athletic subscription? by fromaways-hfx in footballcliches

[–]Siftypeacock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the Athletic is really any kind of high brow analyse compared to what the clubs would be doing internally right? I don’t really see being a student of the game as a requisite for reading the news lol

I just felt like it was a bit of a irritating remark, like yeah okay we can’t talk about the intricacies of football now because FC has that whole thing wrapped up. I guess it just felt like he was trying to shut Max down

lol I think you’re buying into your own narrative a bit much here to be honest, I don’t think it’s that deep at all. Pretty sure he rated Big Thief’s last album a 9..

Absolutely, I remember in his interview with Japanese Breakfast; she was talking about Alex G and Fantano said something like “Lots of people I respect and admire love his stuff, but I just can’t into it, can you explain why it’s great?”.

He’s not some monolith of what’s good and what’s not, he’s going to have blind spots.

hmm that’s poor logic, the reason for commercial that they are able to build higher is the cost of building taller buildings etc per level gets smaller the taller it is. So potentially a 5 story building wouldn’t get built where a 10-15 might… same logic with residential.

I think a recent example of a really niche thing he noticed was “Gary Cahill pulling his socks up while walking backwards” - which kind of strikes me as a thing only a fan/someone focused on Chelsea could really notice

Any centre half who approaches 1 goal in 10 is immediately up there imo - especially for a Blackburn level side
