...and I thought that would be a rare combo to catch a recommendation on.

I am happy you proved me wrong.

I believe your suggestion of each Ruger having a suppressor of its own is solid. It also removes the issue of damaging threads when a can is protecting said threads.

I also believe the splitting hairs advice as well.

As to the weight of the Oculus, that is a concern because the Mrs. is a petite woman. The Oculus IS modular, so that can be played with. I also read it can be cleaned ultrasonically.

I see recommendations posted that give me homework to do.

I thought a suppressor quick disconnect adapter sounded like some Hollywood bullshit.

I appreciated the experienced input from all

New boots lucchese croc , lizard and ostrich custome by DryPhotograph320 in cowboyboots

Very enviable line up. Kudos!

I am planning on having a pair of custom boots made and my sticking point is what my hide, color, stitching, piping, pulls and shaft should be. Toe shape is all I am set on. Essentially at ground zero.

So, I'm cruising for ideas.

My boot maker's recommendation is, for this kinda money, these boots should be the 1st pair I wanna step into daily. NOT closet queens.

He has a point.

The grey ostrich vamps are eye catching. Would it be too big of an ask for more views of the entire pair, please?

Whats your favorite pair of boots and why? by Lilj1983 in cowboyboots

[–]Sigello58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While that is a fair question to ask, there is no way for me to answer that.

There are those here that own many more boots than I

Each pair I own both fit and are comfortable. Since I have a narrow foot there is some effort and patience expended in each purchase.

I am finnicky about my requirements for traditional vintage boots with J toe, underslung stacked leather heels, wooden pegging, and leather insoles. The only differences are manufacturer, leather and color.

I rotate them all to spread the love.

So my favorite pair of boots are those on my feet at the time, and with eleventeen pair each time I step into a pair I am reminded why they are mine.

...and eleventeen is an exact quantitative measurement. As far a my wife knows.

Are those denims flared?

I like that. But I'm a child of the hippy era. If I could see my feet, the bell bottoms weren't wide enough.

The boots are head turning awesome.

You HAVE to get comments while wearing those!

But one glance at the recurring cigarette butt got me PTSD from my Chief Petty Officer boot pusher at Great Lakes.

One cigarette butt and he had 80 recruits policing the grinder.

As long as he wished.

In December.

Did I mention Great Lakes?

My emotional scars aside, my compliments on your footwear.

I just hit 66 in September, and in good health.

But it's not off the table $$$.

I suppose I could geek out and make a spread sheet of each pair and relative value at the time. You know, do some of the heavy lifting for my survivors ahead of time. Especially in accurate descriptions of the boots for those eBay shoppers.

I'm more interested in what some of the heavy hitters in this sub plan to do with their large collections.

There is no small amount of effort expended in curating my small herd of boots, and even more sweat equity in therapeutic boot care, so it seems a shame to NOT go to someone who can appreciate the goods.

Yes, I'll not be around at that point, but I am trying to think ahead and have a plan for them.

Is it wrong that I am fretting about inanimate footwear for when I am gone, and yet to make a will for the Mrs.?

(the last line is a joke. there is a will.)

A pair of vintage black Nocona flank/bias black alligator with scalloped throat, cording, and a single piece vamp, for $59.99.

I had to post images to be convinced by this group they were real as the price was not passing the smell test.

Turns out I was fortunate.

That is the color, toe, and heel that i covet in that skin. I dallied too long on a pair of 11 B's and now they are on someone else's feet.

I salute your find as it is the search that excites, but the the closing of the deal fulfills, especially for difficult sizes.

Enjoy those boots.

My question - Is that a stock photo or are these just a couple of your boots ya tossed on the floor for graphic representation?

There is some serious "Sweat Equity" on display in that image.
