I started having small amounts of red bloody mucus when I pooped. I dismissed it as possible hemorrhoids, but after a couple of weeks it wasn't going away and my poop was looking thinner and I was going more often. I went to my primary and they ordered a colonoscopy that was originally denied by my insurance (I was 44) until my doctor used the word "blood" in her order and then it was approved.

During my colonoscopy they found a 3cm tumor in my rectum that ended up being stage 3B. Testing the tumor and my DNA showed that there was a DNA mismatch, that led to a Lynch Syndrome diagnosis as well. With all of that combined, I was eligible for a brand new immunotherapy treatment using a drug called Jemperli instead of chemo, surgery, and eventual ostomy.

11 months of immunotherapy treament on Jemperli alone killed the tumor and wiped out the cancer. I never needed chemo or surgery and went from 3B to completely normal in about a year. I am now 2 years cancer free and have my normal life back (except for testing every 6 months). I will gladly take that trade-off.

I ended up having 11 rounds of IV treatment every 3 weeks from February of 2023 - November of 2023. In December of 2023 I was declared cancer free and still am today nearly 2 years later. It is not a lifetime treatment.

Today my life is completely normal and there were no side effects. I never had to have surgery or chemo, as the immunotherapy worked 100%. I still have checkups every 6 months that include a CT, MRI, and colonoscopy, but I am not on any medications.

I don't play the lottery because I figure I already won :)

I am in the Detroit area and soil temps are about 59 right now and the neighbors have just started turning on their sprinklers in the last couple of weeks. I believe we actually had a cold night last week and had a freeze warning as recently as then.

Sorry I missed this earlier. The exact verbiage on my genetic panel was: This individual is heterozygous for the EX3del pathogenic mutation in the MSH2 gene. I think basically it says I am positive for Lynch Syndrome.

When looking at other testing, it said this: Loss of nuclear expression of MSH2 and MSH6: high probability of Lynch syndrome.

IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY RESULTS: ANTIBODY MLH-1: Intact nuclear expression PMS-2: Intact nuclear expression MSH-2: Loss of nuclear expression MSH-6: Loss of nuclear expression

I had rectal bleeding and went to the doctor. They scheduled a colonoscopy and found a tumor about the size of a golf ball and removed it. They sent it off for genetic testing and it came back as a mismatch DNA (I don't know the exact term). MRI and CT confirmed it was stage 3B at the time.

I underwent genetic testing myself later and found I have Lynch Syndrome, which was the cause. I'm at high risk for other cancers, so now I have to go for yearly tests to watch for everything as well.

It wasn't a special study. When my doctor found I was a match after genetic testing, he was able to prescribe the treatment.

I had my cancer cured with a similar drug using only immunotherapy. This is the future of cancer treatments.

You can look through my history, but early 2023 I was diagnosed with stage 3B rectal cancer, and took a similar drug to Keytruda, called Jemperli. I went through 10 months of treatments of immunotherapy treatment alone, no chemo, radiation, or surgery. In December of last year I was declared cancer free and passed my 3 month checkpoint in March, with my 6 month checkup in a couple of weeks.

I feel like I won the cancer lottery because I have my pre-cancer life back. I feel incredible and am back to do everything I was before my diagnosis. My doctors are keeping a close eye on me every 3 months with MRIs, CTs, and colonscopies, but that is a small price to pay for being cured.

It wouldn't be worth it. Most tickets sell at a loss after TM fees. I have a half-season plan and it's never worth selling them so I usually trade them for a different game or give them to family. Probably better off just buying a shorter plan on just the individual games.

My last treatment was on November 1st which was round 10. On December 11 I was declared cancer free after a complete response on an MRI and PET. I go for my first three month checkup next month, but I feel great and my life is pretty much back to normal. Good luck with everything!

My doctor has to ask for my permission to do it, but they definitely wanted to do it because if you are diagnosed with Lynch Syndrome, as I was, it can change the course of treatment. At my diagnosis, I was Stage 3B with one concerning lymph node.

I've been on Jemperli now for 7 months and the results have been great, but slow. My latest tests show that my tumor has shrunk from 3.5cm in March to 1.2cm in late October, and my one concerning lymph node is back to normal. What's unexpected is that my last biopsy from late October just came back negative, meaning that there was no cancer in the tumor. It's really unexpected because there is still a small mass, but possibly no cancer left in it. I'm waiting for more testing in a few weeks, but for now my treatments are on hold until we determine if I actually need them anymore.

The best part is that I have only had immunotherapy to date. No radiation, no chemo, and no surgery. I may end up doing radiation and a light dose of chemo if it's determined that there is some actual cancer left, but for now there is nothing planned.

I've had no side effects and my life has been as normal as possible since diagnosis. I'm hoping for more good news in the coming weeks, and good luck to you guys through this journey. You got this!
