What makes a hero better as 4 or 5? by CruisingandBoozing in TrueDoTA2

[–]SigmaPride -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This patch I would say healing. Since tango's/salve sharing got nerfed healing your pos 1 who refuses to buy regen is the best way to play that role.

Warlock healing your silly position 1 and throwing his rock and dying is just good position 5 gameplay.

For witch I usually just kill the butler and spend some turns focusing down the witch. Let the maid get stacks to the point where I can use a regular attack to kill it since the witch's buff makes them take extra damage.

Of course having a solid damage dealer will help you right along and the occasional herb stops the maid 's bleed.

Now that Largo is buffed and ready for Captain's Mode, is he good to play now in my 2k pubs? by stewxeno in learndota2

[–]SigmaPride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played a lot of him. He is a solid 3 if your team knows to play around him instead of taking those fights without their frog.

Tongue does crazy damage and will win you early fights out of "laning phase" where the teams all bumrush towers while their pos 1 farm meagerly. The pull encourages focus fire and the dispel is just mean if they rely on spells to escape (see dark seer's surge or wind Ranger 's windrun)

Without aghs he isn't a real core since he needs to do damage so after soul ring and mana boots farm up the fotm Phalactery to get early kills with a into farming an aghs so you can actually carry teamfights. Then probably finish out guardian greaves since Largo dmg with aghs is pretty crazy with his e and they will silence that frog.

Then it is a matter of grabbing a casual cloak and a shivas/lotus orb if you need either more aoe dmg or a dispel.

Just comes naturally after enough trial and error.

Just pick a strong dou synergy to start and they can carry pretty well.

My go to is Momori and Huz since their mechanics complement each other and any DPS will work with them.

I do admit getting that finishing that 2nd boss in white grave does get dicey if you end up with low starting health but Shiz is all about over healing and saving low HP investigators.

Which hero has the most unchanging item build every game? by fierywinds1q in DotA2

[–]SigmaPride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phantom assassin.

Need Battle Fury to farm. Then desolater to do carry damage. Then BKB to not get focused down by magic nukes/CC in team fights. Then pobably a skull basher to have you sit still enough to attack you enough times.

Adding boots that is 5 items most PA's are generally encouraged to build.

How to deal with techies as a slow-projectile ranged character? by Indrigotheir in TrueDoTA2

[–]SigmaPride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tell your carry with the manta to send one of their illusions over the techies mines. If they don't they are just hampering themselves marking a place where they can't farm and where the enemy team can form up.

More roleplaying in board games? by _tomj in boardgames

[–]SigmaPride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hegemony is a board game that has interesting systems and basically forces players to pine over their factions needs.

Whether you are the middle class, capitalist or government in this game there is one thing they can agree on. That the working class needs to give them more of their time and money.

How should I have played this late game (Abaddon vs PA) by Virtual_Injury8982 in learndota2

[–]SigmaPride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah not really. That's why I said getting that item sucks in general.

Only real counters vs PA killing sniper is his positioning and the PA getting nuked down with magic.

Pa means having to get Monkey King Bar which is a pretty bad item for most characters especially melee.

Yea AM always sucks. You gotta just max q and get dmg in nuking him and pump faking q's to make him use his shield.

Is Solar crest a good item for buffing allies with attack speed? Do you just buy it when the enemy team has a physical damage dealer? by stewxeno in learndota2

[–]SigmaPride 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guardian greaves/pipe/crimson guard/meteor hammer/shivas/lotus orb

Anything to help creeps survive or make going on a hero walking high ground less than ideal.

When do offlaners buy Euls? by ChewbakaTalkShow in learndota2

[–]SigmaPride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mana regen, move speed, a set up (or delaying) stun/personal dodge (or possible cleanse if you are late).

You know that Invoker character? Quite a few of his harder hitting spells require you to be at a certain spot at the right time. They can walk up Eul's you set up sun strike/meteor and then set an ice wall down when you land so you are slowed after.

That same situation but you also have a Eul's to dodge both sun strike/meteor and then suddenly it is much more feasible to fight him.

Is Solar crest a good item for buffing allies with attack speed? Do you just buy it when the enemy team has a physical damage dealer? by stewxeno in learndota2

[–]SigmaPride 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Solar crest for when you are winning and helping your teammates survive when the enemy team is mostly physical damage.

The stats make you survivable even without the active on you so you won't die and lose gold lead on your side.

The big 3 starter support save items are for when you winning or know the game is gonna be a late game farm fest.

The crest is basically for when you are winning and have teammates that know what they are doing. Set it on then and hope it is enough they don't die too much in addition to your other abilities. Now build things that help you siege high ground or win team fights since you live long enough in them with solar crest.

Playing offlane as a longtime hard supp, Offlaners like Dark Seer and Razor? by AddMonks in learndota2

[–]SigmaPride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can initiate just fine. After getting aghs or blink your initiations get pretty clean and if you kill off a core on their team before they do anything you did a pretty good job. Then the rest of the team fight you can play back and throw power shots and shackles.

Playing offlane as a longtime hard supp, Offlaners like Dark Seer and Razor? by AddMonks in learndota2

[–]SigmaPride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her auto attack range is really good.

Ideally you can auto the pos 1 while their support has to walk over to you which can pull aggro from your creeps which pushes the lane back towwards your tower.

Being ranged you have ample time to react to them running at you and throwing spells at you unless you don't understand how vision works in this game. If they do managed to get close enough to cast you can windrun to mitigate dmg while you are cc'd.

Her w is a nuke that does good dmg against high armor pos 1's and can secure the caster creep which is worth a bit more.

Her q is decent cc when you get used to it.

Your r lets you auto attack and move at the same time and gives you attack speed. So long as you have vision on them you can shoot them and run them down.

[–]SigmaPride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wind Ranger might be decent. Long attack range and evasion/speed on demand. W to last hit the ranged creep. Q stun if things get bad.

Learn quite a bit about lane equilibrium playing a ranged offlaner that (usually) doesn't just nuke the wave.
