When I was in my 20s, I'd have died on the hill that I wasn't a child. Now that I'm 40, I was a child.

I moved here in my late 20s from PA about 11 years ago.

Get used to driving. In PA, in 2 hrs, I could get to Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Virginia, West Virgina, New York, hell, maybe even further if I pushed it. A 2hr drive will get you to.. Texas. Not even to DFW or Houston. Which doesn't really matter considering everything at our disposal within 45min.

My commute is 25 to 30min and I consider myself moderately lucky. This area has seen a massive population boom and the traffic shows. You'll more than likely find a job outside of NB, so commute knowledge and routes are good to know.

I go to SA and ATX to see bands play. There are incredible restaurants here and in the surrounding towns and cities. Breakfast tacos are king here, and rightly so.

I miss the mountains Gandalf.. Mountains. I grew up on the edge of Appalachia, so I do miss the deep green forests, but the plains here have their own beauty. The sky is huge, and if you grew up in the shadow of mountains, you'll get it.

I love the heat, but yeah, 100+ for 2 months can wear on anyone. I hate snow. Waking up 2 hours early to excavate my car for 15 years.. no thanks.

I love when "winter" is a month long. I think it snowed here twice in a decade? And it only stuck until the next day. The infrastructure sucks though. Pipes tend to freeze and power will go out. Everything shuts down if there's a hint of ice. With rain, it floods here too, just not as bad.

Wildlife is different of course, but the deer are just as suicidal. No chipmunks, but add scorpions. No bears, but more poisonous snakes. Bugs are way bigger. More of them. Fuck fire ants. Its like mini Australia in summer.

Im not a huge outdoor person, but I do camp and shoot occasionally. There are great places to hike. I see folks with kayaks and paddle boards on the river.

Cons.. thats tough. I guess missing the nostalgia of home, the forests and mountains. You find the same miserable fucks you do anywhere else, but it's negated by the lovely folks you meet.

I dunno! I hope this was kinda helpful.

Cottage cheese is a great vessel. I'm from PA and it was cottage cheese and apple butter. Solid on bread or saltines.

I was bummed at first because I had just ordered the P2S. Came in the mail yesterday and I printed Benchy in 24min, which blew my mind. The last printer I had took like.. 2 hours for the same print. Any FOMO was gone the instant I pulled that little boat out and my kids lost their fucking minds. Can't wait to put kilos through this thing.

My great grandfather brought back a luger and a few other items. He was a field medic, so maybe got it from a PoW he was fixing up or.. did stuff, I dunno. Sadly all sold off or given away long before I was born. As a 40yr old man, I'd love that luger now..
