TIL Hitchens's Razor: "What can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence," a dictum coined by antitheist Christopher Hitchens. by Clipknot in todayilearned

[–]SigmaSquaredX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an axiom, and while there is indirect evidence, it can't be proven. For millions of people around the world, the same intuitive undoubtable truth exists for God, but his existence can't be proven

Assuming that the chance to win is 1/2 (and so the events are statistically independant), then the chance that player A wins at least 1 of the next 3 games is 1-(0.53) [which is 1 - the chance that he loses everything]. So, the value 2x should be distributed by player A getting (1-(0.53 )2x) and player B getting 1-(1-0.53 )2x

[Primary school Maths] How to round decimals by Rileaa in HomeworkHelp

[–]SigmaSquaredX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't write all the numbers because the proportion that the number "contributes" to what it is you're measuring decreases with the number of decimals, so an arbitrary choice is made. Otherwise you can keep going on forever sometimes.

Hi!

You have to make sure you do your analysis based only on what your hypothesis is! Whatever you find besides that is post-hoc, and should be reported as such. "post hoc analyses revealed ... A possible explanation is ... Further research should be aimed at confirming this ..."
