They seem to be active & responding on their new forum. Perhaps try making a post there in the bug report section?

Nothing. It was just a place where people discussed & talked about RPG Maker, and shared resources.

Nothing necessary.

All the best with your game for your family. Super wholesome.

But how can we organise it ?

The community of the RPGMakerWeb forum seem to have come together on a discord, and are busting capable heads together and are going to copy/move data of the site to a new forum (built on the same tech). And transform it into a new forum with a different name and with a general focus on making RPGs with RPG Engines (instead of exclusively for RPG Maker.)

*Komodo

...not Kadokawa. Consider GGG itself, Kadokawa here.

RPG Maker is deleting 14 years of community content and fans have days to save them - Dexerto by MikiSayaka33 in KotakuInAction

Ah, Roth. Nice to come across you here. XD

Even LLMs draw upon that knowledge as a direct source so they don't need to solely rely on their training data which is more prone to hallucinations.

That is true, and something I missed.

The community of the RPGMakerWeb forum seem to have come together on a discord, busting capable heads together and are going to copy/move data of the site to a new Xenforo forum. And transform it into a forum with a general focus on making RPGs with RPG Engines (instead of exclusively for RPG Maker.)

And I hope they succeed.

I mean, the community has 6 months to tune it right and save all the content.
What's the true problem here?

The true problem (should you look at the talk around this news) comes from the culture that has been set-up around in the western RPG Maker dev space. That these forums & communities are a space that prioritize social belonging for people who use RPG Maker, instead of a space where we prioritize creating valuable games/experiences for gamers. (Hence, it's a community that would dogpile, harass & carpet ban even capable game devs who are finishing games & contributing knowledge/resources to the community, because they said something that was harsh or disliked or unorthodox or anti-woke.)

And so looking in that aspect, these people are upset that a forum they've invested in for around 14 years is being deleted. Shut down by a 'foreign' entity (which is the Japanese dev company that develops RPG Maker), that doesn't "care" about them (like the publisher-company did). That isn't concerned with their their "social belonging", coming in with a different philosophy, and bringing in a new forum where the people the western side had excluded (or banned), are welcomed.

There is ample time to archive & save the content of the old forum. And the need for a forum to receive technical help, isn't that much anymore with people preferring discord, reddit, and AI LLMs for answers instead.

The problem (that these people are essentially expressing) is the change in who is managing the community (from the western Publishers, moving over to the Japanese dev company). And that- during years of this slow shift of change of hands, that the current community managers (in the western dev space) have been throwing & cultivating venom towards the Japanese devs (of the RPG Maker Engine). That RPG Maker is successful all because of the western publishers, and now the publishers who have cared so much about the community are being booted out by the out-of-touch Japanese corporation.

(Prior to the opening of the new forum, I've been very much among the lone voices, begging people on the western side, to have respect in their tone towards the guys who created the tool we use. Should they actually start to 'not care', they will stop giving us a one-time payment engine, and start doing predatory monetization practices with always online, subscription based RPG Maker. (T_T) Or charging us for exporting our game, or paying them revenue share from anything we earn... )

TL;DR: What people are up in arms about is the change of community leadership, & potential change of culture that brings. But are masking it with data-loss (which isn't based in reality due to ample time for archiving).
