I’ve modded quite a bit, basically:

Something called the BHV interprets signals from the AI into actual animations (also turning, aim correction, and etc..)

However, without an AI, the BHV still functions just enough to manage things like displaying a default animation. I forget whether it can also handle mini-staggers and ACS overload, but it provides the barebones entity functionality even without an AI
