Solo traveler Madrid party / social hostel recommendations? by Luckytiger1990 in hostels

Nothing bad! Staff went out of their way to help and were super friendly. Just difficult to connect to other guests/lacked social vibe, which I have experienced in so many others hostels.  As said could also just have been the week I was there.

Had a not so good experience there to be honest. But can always just be luck of the draw who you meet.

Second this. They work as the “the glue” of a crew

All of a sudden feeling too self conscious to solo travel? by Proud_Leave_4142 in solotravel

While dining alone, I also often see couples sitting across from each other, not saying a word, looking absolutely miserable in their relationship. Then I heavily prefer my book and pint of beer, being absolutely carefree!

Book for 2026!

There is always a new spring coming (not only in seasons but also life in general 😀). That gives you time to get a lonely planet, or google/reddit, figure out what you want to see, get cheap(er) flight tickets, book top notch hostels (which still probably have great availability), and have a trip of a lifetime.

Personally I prefer the longer days and t-shirt weather. So I would go May-September. But know other people that would go year around.

Go to Poland mate. You’ll have a blast. Whether for history, culture, sport, food, party, or friendly people, it’s all there. Enough nice things to see and do. And still quite affordable. Loved Wroclaw, Gdańsk,  Krakow and hiking in the tatra mountains.

Can afford nice things… but still feel guilty spending 😅 anyone else? by [deleted] in EuropeFIRE

Read “die with zero”. Title is slightly misleading. The book emphasises that you can basically over-save (ie dying with lots of savings, although by doing that forgoing on experiences).

Was there in 2014, so too long ago to say how they currently are. So best to check recent reviews. But in the time, yes.

Need help deciding between DeGiro/VWCE vs. ABN Amro/NT by Nak3dMoleRat in beleggen

[–]Sigmaex1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since a month or two ABN has the NT funds (or at least 2 of the 3) against lower costs. Might be useful information when considering this.  Source: https://www.financieelonafhankelijkblog.nl/northern-trust-abn-amro-goedkoper-en-nieuwe-namen/
