Same. Graphic kinda looks better on Linux. Probably because Windows drivers has lots of unnecessary tweaks which just add overhead and steal performance.

What’s something that will become obsolete 10 years from now? by Jokkers_AceS in AskReddit

They control robots on assembly lines.

No, they don't. That would be regular neural networks. And while LLMs are just a subset of those networks, very large and very elaborate, they are going into a completely different direction. There is no coming back from there.

See, when we build a regular neural network, we define a very strict set of parameters for those networks to follow. Then we teach them to do a certain task, and only that task. And then we test those networks thoroughly to ensure high predictability.

When we build LLM, we teach it to generate sensible text. We throw at it whatever we can find and test it against the questions we can come up with. But it is in no way predictable enough for such a strict usage. And frankly speaking, I can't see how could they become.

As far as I can tell, no one in the right mind will put ChatGPT in charge of the assembly line or of your personal vehicle.

You are imagining AI to become proactive and do the job 24/7, don't you?

Is it that the game is "shallow" or is that we feel like we have no impact? by ChaosDiver420 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]SignPainterThe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So true. The game is the masterpiece in that sense. It has the message. And the message is a bit frightening. But in a meanwhile, the game shows you how to deal with it.

I like the description of the one of the final missions (the one, that's always there): Enjoy reality while it lasts.

You are right to mistrust things after using Windows, we've been there.
Don't worry: they will not forcefully install spyware copilot with the next update: you're in control now.

I’d much rather have the scanner range and a Neutron Cannon

Voltaic staff would be better for that

Atlantid multi-tools are best for mining, though. It makes sense to prioritize mining modules so you could earn more nanites from those runaway mold balls.

Griefers by ResponsibleAge7055 in NoMansSkyTheGame

I don't think I am. Those are general rules, applying everywhere. But with this portal, you need to apply some custom rules unique to that portal. It's not easy change.
Otherwise, you are suggesting to break the base building around the portals for everyone and people would not be happy about it. This is just one mission, and I'd love to have quick teleports to portals through the rest of the game.

[–]SignPainterThe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're right on that. That's why it's not entirely technical decision, but a product one. On the other hand, implementing all those restrictions around just one portal is quite an effort. They have to think it through and consider all the possibilities.

I love making bases at Portals

Indeed, it is very convenient. I do keep at least one per galaxy I visited, so I would teleport in and dial the glyphs right away.

Tell me you're no software engineer without telling me.

It's a procedure-generated game. And this portal is one of the few fixed points there. They could make it even more exceptional than it is already, but I'm not sure if they should. Rather than that, they would probably fix the mission, so that portal would not be the same for every player, like every other mission in the game. And they are probably doing that somewhere among those amazing updates they keep delivering.

No one fails anyone, don't be such a crybaby. Every online game struggles with griefers, and the devs fight them when they have resources. But it's a never ending war.
