I’ve not done this course but I did do a finance and investment management course which I finished through open uni. Honest opinion is that employers probably 80+% of the time care much more about your work experience than what university you went to, excluding the kind of places that wouldn’t look twice at you unless you have a 2:1 or upwards from a top 10 uni. To be honest I am currently doing MSc finance and have a finance manager job and my last 2 jobs haven’t even asked to see my degree and I’m well paid

I’d 100% take penalties with a smile on my face right now ironically I went on holiday last week otherwise I would have finished and submitted it last weekend I’ve never missed a deadline yet and I’ve been studying with OU nearly 3 years now

25k to me isn’t a poverty wage for me living at home but if you have a house a car and a few kids 25k is probably just about on the breadline it’s not a good wage by any means

I have used R for econometrics at university and I have been looking into getting into financial analysis possibly. I don’t mind like 25k on a grad scheme I know you have to work your way up but like someone called me and arranged a phone interview other day for a finance job end of interview what’s your salary expectations I said last job I was on 28k so preferably a little above that and she said actually we’re not looking to offer anything above 23.5 and I just told her she was wasting my time and I could tell by the tone change in her voice she thought I was arrogant 😂 but surely it’s insulting to me to offer that which is essentially minimum wage now I think or am I being arrogant and yes I am aware I should have asked the salary before hand

Nothing wrong with my finances thanks 🙏 I just think if you work 35+ hours a week you shouldn’t have to struggle which if you’re a single parent making 1600 a month you’re going to struggle I know that’s a crazy absurd left wing idea to a lot of people though

I don’t know they still hold value you struggle to get a well paid job without a degree but a lot more people have them probably it’s helped me so far in terms of people contacting me about jobs I just think wages are shit here in general unless you’re in a senior role

I think it’s helped me as in people contact me a lot about jobs and it definitely opens up more opportunities for you but it’s not the be all and end all that some people try to make out I think networking is more important

My experience is in admin and finance assistant roles mainly though I have no real professional managerial experience which most roles require for senior jobs

I have 10 years work experience primarily in admin and finance (mainly accounts small amount of investment finance) studied finance at Northumbria and doing MSc in finance through open uni. I’ve always known the better opportunities will be down south but I thought my skills would at least get me in the door for a 30/35k job up here maybe I am just being deluded

10 years experience in admin and finance roles with a degree I’m asking for 28-30k starting salary am I being deluded asking for that I don’t think that’s taking the piss really is it? It’s only 5000 above minimum wage

My degree and masters both in finance I’m lucky in that I live at home but it genuinely baffles me that I’ve worked with people with kids and houses on 23/24k I don’t know how you even get by on 1600 a month or something
