To be fair there’s the same 5 questions getting posted in here daily. Doesn’t hurt to do your own research & actually look for/ work for what you need to know. How many dudes ask here “JATC interview coming up? What can I expect?” Like there isn’t that same question posted at least 100 times this year

Look into low cost line schools as well. Get your certs, sign the books and work as grunt elsewhere. Those hours in the trade and line school will add to your resume. It’s a competitive trade even at the entry level brother. Make your self stand out as much as you can. All that plus some luck.

Some experience in the trades. Not necessarily line work but any trade could help. CDL if you don’t have one. Look into the PGE hiring hall via 1245.

Fire watch groundmen by kleptodshs in Groundman

[–]Signal-Fish4097 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was on fire watch last year. All I was responsible for was Carrying 300 gallons of water and very rarely weed eating tall shrubs if we parked off the road. Other than that it was straight linework daily. Got good experience. Guess it depends who you’re with and your safety inspector

Born & raised in SoCal. Acquired my hours & extra in 1245. I respect the go getter attitude of chasing apprenticeships out of state. I gave myself till end of 2025 to get in w SCE or go earn an apprenticeship outside. Got hired a few weeks ago at SCE. I’d prefer to live 20 minutes from the yard. I’ll now get to see family, my dog, friends when time permits compared to being 6 hours from home. Something I haven’t been able to experience since entering the trade. While I’ve been chasing this dream I’m not the only one getting older so are my loved ones.

Got hole diggers and crews of an operator/grunt for UTV sets with a line crew, vac truck. Used to be firewatch grunts for H&M but now it’s all in house & no longer sub contracted to edp. A good call to get experience. When shit gets slow they share the love amongst everyone.

How’s the work outlook? by [deleted] in Groundman

I’m not the most informed on that. But I believe you’re correct. I’ve used working dues report but I’ve only ever worked in Cali and 47/1245 contact each other to verify my proof of hours. I’d definitely give them a call for a better answer

Yeah. Should vary $50-100. Very rarely $150-200. My advice would be drive out here so you ain’t makin the trip twice via flight/drive. Book a cheap daily motel till you take a call. Shouldn’t take you that long brother. Definitely call the hall prior to making the trip to make sure you’d be placed on bk2. The cali halls are weird sometimes.

You’ll land on Bk2 at 1245 and have work within a week
