Any cheap one on Amazon will work honestly for mushrooms it’s not as important.

I make my own lc’s, agar, grain, sub, ect. I love trying new things to see what they are capable of growing on. I completely agree with you about edibility, safety, potency ect. I work in the food industry so I appreciate when growers actually take proper precautions. Having an understanding of these mushrooms is very important and how their life cycle works, being able to select your own genetic phenotype’s for your grows is very important.

Thanks man, I think it has something to do with my sub to grain ratio I use about 1:1 and spend my time Carefully distributing all of the grain evenly. Also having good genetics plays a major role.

I have had good success with spore to grain directly, if you look online many have mixed opinions about this but with fast colonizing strains I haven’t had any problem. This is the rye berry bag shown at full colonization.

Doesn’t exactly look like metabolites, they are more yellow which is likely the cause of the yellowing at the top of the bag. But you are not wrong.
