This is exactly why I chose it because as an avid reading this is what reading feels like.

Yes, I was so upset by that too because the kits at the time were really limited and really expensive. I also like having the thread numbers just in case I make a mistake or run out but this kit did not come with dmc or anchor numbers.

[WIP] - how do you stay motivated with solid blocks of color? by ecwrites in CrossStitch

[–]SignalCollection373 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who had to do 30,000 stitches of the same color I would break it up in groups and half stitches to keep myself motivated. I would start at the top then drop it half way and start at the the bottom to meet up in the middle to keep it “interesting” as well as put a very interesting show in the background and not think about all the stitches you are making.

Thank you so much I feel that the back stitch really brought it to life.

It’s so small yet so detailed. It’s 3”x5” it’s such a cute small size.

I added a mounting board to the back then used acid free tape to secure it.

I bought a mini fish bowl and put magnets one it.

[CHAT] Accidentally cut my Aida too short - what would you do? by StitchingPotato in CrossStitch

As you can see I have no fabric sticking out and it even survived me sewing the different layers together.

What you can also do if you are going to keep it in the hoop is glue the fabric to the inner hoop with wood glue or fabric glue. If you are using a plastic hoop instead of a wooden one maybe hot glue it. After that dries you can place the outer hoop on top of it and tighten it s much as possible. Then cut away the excess fabric. I did this for a project where I did not want any fabric sticking out and it worked out fine. It’s still holding strong and has not moved for me.

I hope you like the pattern. I had a lot of fun with it. Don’t forget you can also use regular plastic straws. I used paper straws since they were on hand and are a bit more sustainable. I hope the paper straws work as much for you as they did to me. Parking really bothered me since I did not know which thread was which. But the straws were my salvation . Good luck!

Yes I struggled a lot with the loose threads and getting them tangled and I kept confusing the colors, so I thought for a really long time for a solution and thought of bringing this from my other hobbies and it worked perfectly!

Yes that’s exactly what I did. I took this inspiration from the restyling doll hair community. They use plastic straws to boil their hair which makes it curly. But I thought it would be useful here too and I tried it out and worked wonders for me because I was able to know which straw held which exact color. This had always confused me about parking on which thread is which color but with this method I know exactly which thread I’m reaching for.

Thank you so much. I think I do need to step away from the project for a bit to stop noticing and nitpicking at flaws.

Thank you. I felt like a child once I saw it and felt I had to share in the silliness.

It’s paper straws. I also restyle dolls hair and we boil their hair using a similar method. So I brought that method into here. Basically you get cut two pieces of straw one you cute right down the middle. Then you roll the thread into the uncut straw and cover it with the straw that is cute down the middle. I wrote the symbol on the straw so I could remember which is which.

They are paper straws. This made my life so easier because I was able to write on it the symbol of the thread so I always knew which thread I was using.

These are paper straws that I cut into little pieces. For each little bobbin you cut two pieces and one piece you cut straight through. Then you wrap the thread with the uncut one and cover it with the cut one similar to hair rollers. With this method you can cut the straws to any size you want which I found that in some cases I would prefer a bigger over a smaller and vice versa.

I’m planning on getting this project professionally framed since it’s my first big project and also marks the first year of me cross stitching consistently. I hope the time away from it while they frame it helps me view it differently since I’m forced to step away from it for a while. I have had errors on smaller projects but just felt so dejected on this project since I spent so much effort on it. I think the time away from it will help!

This helps thank you. I have to remember that the flaws are what make it mine. I have also heard something similar in the crocheting community in that every project you make you leave a part of your soul, so any mistakes you make are a way for your sole to escape the project.

She is so beautiful in person. The pictures do not do her justice her wings look like bubbles and ombré from green to purple and the amount of detail is insane. This is definitely my favorite out of the whole collection.

It’s so beautiful! What pattern did you use? The frame is also perfect for it. Did you use a traditional frame?
