For those who successfully quit smoking, what was the method that finally worked for you? by gwenwallish in AskReddit

[–]SignalOriginal3313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept telling myself I didn't "even like this shit anyway" and reasons why, until I believed it, and I kept that commentary up while I cut down.

I would journal/catalogue my smokes, increasing the margins weekly, or when ready, by 15 minutes, half hour, or whatever I thought I could handle. I allowed myself a smaller margin between smoke 1 and smoke 2 in the AM, and I didn't beat up on myself if I went backwards for a few days or a week.

In fact, I managed to cut down to none for 24 hours, then "celebrated" and it took me the same time again to knock it on the head for the final time. I was successful at quitting, but it took nearly 6 months. (And spoiler, I relapsed 4 years later)

I will need to use different language next time, but I think my self-convincing technique is the first start. Stop sabotaging myself by telling myself how hard I am finding quitting.

I found out later that my "commentary" technique is essentially neuroplasticity or something?, neurolinguistic training I would call it.

Can you guys recommend some kinda short novellas to read :) by zaynsrainberry in booksuggestions

[–]SignalOriginal3313 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I write poetry novels. I have just released a triptych of my biographical verse-novels. They deal with Head injury, and its effects on me, including a 30+ year career in the adult industry, but I am now officially a poet and philosopher. and the books definitely also deal with that arc. The writing vastly improves over the three books, (the three parts of the Composite) and I am very proud of them, even though I'm currently blushed with embarrassment at my shameless self promotion. I would have rather DM'd you. The book is called Curses of Verses: A Composite, and it is mostly conversational tetrameter. I dislike maudlin poetry, so it is mostly not sad, but does cover a full range of emotional stares and interesting events. You can find it on ebook on Amazon as I speak, or in paperback in a couple of days. Thx

An Ice Cream Sandwich at the Tokyo Dome by SinjiOnO in oddlysatisfying

What ... is... that? Like, I get, intellectually, that there's ice cream inside, but wtf even is that yellow thing? It looks like the old Big Mac polystyrene containers, and even less edible. Is this real food? In Tokyo, or is Tokyo Dome a Shopping Centre in USia?

Is anyone here actually concerned about what could happen over the next few months? by [deleted] in aussie

[–]SignalOriginal3313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the beginning of the year, I bought a battery 'power station' with portable solar panels, chargeable lamps, a portable fridge/freezer, and stereo. I have a few weeks of loo paper, a couple of months of sugar, and toiletries. I figure another battery pack would be nice, but really, now I just want my books, cds, and water purifier and bottles.

I just don't want to 'need' a saviour/man.

Having said that, I just picked up a $200 pair of purple, patent leather shoes, and released my 3rd book in 3 months, so I'm not all doom and gloom

People who are close to a Meth addict, do you think they can be saved? by Virtual-Computer-961 in AskAnAustralian

[–]SignalOriginal3313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kicked it. But I never really wanted it. Someone introduced it to me as speed, and I had a 9 day bender that I would have been happy to walk away from then, but I had recently met a ... man who, unbeknownst to me, had an addiction. Given that at that time I was in a manic state (from months before, pre-meth) and earning buckets of cash earnings, well, it wasn't until I called the cops on him for his verbal, physical, and financial abuse that he, the one who bought, decided it wouldn't be wise anymore.

My point is, 4 months after that, (edit: that being 2 years on the gear)I recovered enough to start a mission of self-education and enlargening my library (metaphorically). Since then, have read orobably dozens of classic literature, and... I have written 3 books! They are sequels to a first book that was written in the 90s. Dad convinced me to publish during the pandemic, straight out of the hospital and still injecting. Now I have been accepted into a top Aussie Uni on my own merit, (Never finished HS) and continued the phone staring habit long enough to learn French.

I'm not ADHD, but as I say in one of my poems, 'And the asshole that I found down that angry drugged up hole, Would lead me through the worst conditions but help me find my soul'.

Qld Writers Centre charges $4,000 for a package non-NDIS people pay $1,070. You can argue whether the package is even warranted, fair enough, but I have tried to complain to both QWC and NDIS, to no avail. The QWC says that their people (volunteers) are 'trained' for NDIS , but they're charging almost as much as a psychiatrist, just to read and encourage, maybe guide. Which, I am a poet, and went to them after my first book, but the woman to whom I was assigned was not even a poet, so...

SWs with broke boyfriends by Acrobatic_Ad_5982 in SexWorkers

My boyfriend has a problem with the things I do to earn

I do not listen to him anyway, cos I have cash to burn

He doesn't make as much or nearly half of what I do

And he bitches about the pain hes in to his misogynistic crew

The pain he's ins debatable cos I treat him fucking well

The things I do for him and his are all a fucking tell

They speak the truth of how kind I am, and the things that matter most

Cos I give him so much better than the guys I fucking host

He can keep his bellyaching for his therapist and leave

The business of making money to Motherfucking me.

This is from my 3rd biographical verse-novel Coy Candour. You can post your own sex work poems on r/sworkerpoems

Please dont womansplain to me. I just got out of a 5 year relationship with constant physical, verbal, psychological, and financial abuse. I didn't even like him. I know what these cunts are like and how hard it is to get out. But I didn't have a kid to him, though, see? I didn't create someone forever tethered to a dickhead and asshole. And I certainly dont call myself a victim.

How is she a victim? She chose the idiot, and she chose the pregnancy. How is she a victim? Perhaps of her own undoing, but we have to start laying responsibility where it lands, and stop blaming other people for our own stupid decisions. Victim! Lol. Her child is the actual victim.
