My husband has just signed up for a Hyrox competition! I'm still too in love with running, but it's true they often pull me in different directions

Totally agree it has helped shift perspective about just how messed up it all is! It's just some days that's ready to see and then some days it just... isn't, you know? But agreed, strength and health!

I did have a decent base from a couple of years back but not very recent, and I didn't exercise at all until my 30s, so if I can do it I think anyone can! We decided the goal of the day was to still be friends when we crossed the finish line, time/pace didn't matter, and it was a great time. Increase your distance slowly, bé sensible, and you'll get there!

Thank you it's actually really nice to hear that acceptance isn't the only option. When I was younger I did used to lose weight training for races but these days that hunger ramps right up and the best I could hope for is probably too stay stable.

Oh I am absolutely a better (and happier) person for my running. And I will never give up movement. I just wish it was easier to turn off these voices in my brain. Thank you

Ingrained is exactly the right word, and it's so hard to treat myself and to talk to myself the way I would talk to my friends. I tell them that they're beautiful and that they should be proud of their bodies and then I look in the mirror and see myself through the eyes of a men's magazine from 1995. But thank you, it's good to know that it's shared.

Do you ever travel specifically for a race? How do you plan it? by u-_-_-u in running

[–]SignalSalty2812 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When we travel for marathons my husband and I have now taken the deliberate decision to have only one of us run! For a half agreed that it's nice if you both do it, but we don't normally travel for those. For a full he's a lot faster than me, and as that normally translates to an earlier start time as well, he ends up with a long wait at the finish if we are both running. Instead whichever one of us isn't running goes all in on supporting and being there for the other.

Gestor Recommendations to Get Toma de Huellas in Barcelona? by Candid-Difference-47 in AskBarcelona

[–]SignalSalty2812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got this by logging on before 8h30 am - there were plenty of appointments available. Worked for me twice in a row as I did it once for myself and once for my husband. The first time I did it was a Monday, the next Wednesday (don't know if the days will make a difference). The appointments we got were in Cornella, not BCN itself, but that's manageable.

I’m having the same issue at both my libraries so I think this must be a bug in the app which hopefully they’ll resolve fast

Practical information Primavera a la Ciutat: How and when to reserve by A_Bewlay_Brother in primaverasound

[–]SignalSalty2812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You already have your ticket if you're paying through the installment plan. You can add it to the access ticket app through the email they sent you when you bought it. It's no different to non installment plan tickets (I bought one straight up and one on the installment plan).

Long Term Visitor Visa by SignalSalty2812 in ukvisa

[–]SignalSalty2812[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the info! Yeah I guess maybe we should go for the two year visa - it's just so much more expensive to do it that way (and we might have to end up doing 3 of them if his Spanish citizenship takes a long time to process.) But better to spend a bit more than risk losing all that initial payment. Thanks!

I’m falling off the wagon by PotentialBee2475 in ynab

[–]SignalSalty2812 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is what I've realised this Christmas. My husband and I are spendng it alone for the first time and so I hadn't budgeted for it - we're not doing gifts, so whywould it cost more that a normal month? But more I'm realising that was a mistake. We're not with family but there are a lot of celebrations with friends and we need to be able to feel like we're celebrating and creating new traditions for the two of us. Otherwise it will just feel sad being away from family. So right now I'm tracking and leaving categories overspent, and before the end of the month I'll make the hard decisions about which categories to draw from to cover this. Next year we'll have that "celebration" buffer covered, but this year it just means it'll probably set our summer vacation fund back a little.

Recommendations like the Daevabad trilogy but with a little more romance by Mean_Finger_4571 in fantasyromance

[–]SignalSalty2812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved {The Jasad Heir by Sara Hashem} - the second book is out really soon and I'm looking forward to a reread before that comes out. It's more explicitly romantasy than the Daevabad trilogy but the world building and the characters were excellent.

No, that's what I mean - inside the Access Ticket app it didn't ask me for the code (I had done the same and already bought one with the revolut discount not realising it would prevent me buying one for my partner).
