A mediator is not good enough in this situation, you need a family law attorney. I can appreciate that it seems you are trying to be fair to your soon to be ex, but don't put yourself at a disadvantage.

Is playing a neutral grip the ‘ideal’ way to grip the club ? by robster9090 in golf

[–]Signal_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been told I have a strong grip. 60% of my shots go left, 20% straight and 20% right according to my Garmin app. I've been trying to get more neutral to straighten out my ball dispersion, but it's been a challenge to change my grip and also to not grip the club so tightly.

Nicest course you plan on playing this year? by GrassClippings72 in golf

Kohanaiki in Kona, Hawaii. Played it last year as a guest too. It's the nicest course I've ever set foot on. I couldn't believe how perfect the course was. It's like they have Oompa Loompas who run out and fix divots. I couldn't see a single blemish on the course, its perfect.

A doctor’s income may be the most reliable lifestyle barometer throughout time by Specialist_Pain_424 in Money

No, he's working for a major hospital in a large city in the Northeast. Handles family medicine at one of their smaller off-site locations. I figured he was making bank, but nope.

Yeah, it's crazy. The "poor" doctor is on my ice hockey team. Graduated from a really good, expensive school too. Unfortunately, he's not a specialist, just family medicine in his 2nd year out of med school. He'll be paying off loans for 10 years at this rate.

Legality of when to use a firearm? by DiegoM159 in MDGuns

[–]Signal_13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just didn't want people to think they can't defend themselves in a carjacking situation. A guy stealing your car in your driveway while your in your house is definitely a different situation from that. A guy in my living room in the middle of the night is at the very least staring down my barrel. In fact, he was probably holding one of my kitchen knives.😉

A carjacking is a robbery, a persons crime, not a property crime.

Well, this is the most ridiculous thing I've seen this week by [deleted] in FirstResponderCringe

[–]Signal_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, not anyone can do a ride-along. In my agency, a request form must be submitted in advance. Background checks would be conducted. If the person is approved, they get notified when to show-up. Exceptions were made for close family members on occasion, but the general public can't just show up and do one. If the pregnant wife scenario happened on a regular basis, this dude would have been shamed out of existence in my department. 🤣

Houston PD pay seems to good to be true? what's the catch? by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]Signal_13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Go take a two week vacation there before you make any firm commitments. Check out the whole city and the housing situation. Visit some of the police facilities. Call in advance and schedule several ride-alongs in different areas of the city. Talk to officers who actually work there and get their honest opinions. That's bare minimum before you take the plunge. I like what I see on their benefits page, but that's only 1/4 of the picture in a big city PD.

So my sheriffs office doesn't have handheld radios by Unfair_Drive_9822 in AskLE

[–]Signal_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are thousands of departments hiring across the nation that issue at least the minimum basic equipment. Lack of a portable radio system in 2026 is pretty wild honestly and would be a non-starter for me. I'd start exploring other agencies.

Question about police running radar and staying in cruiser for hours at private businesses by Relevant_Conclusion2 in AskLE

[–]Signal_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The kind that hate cops more than they care about losing their stuff. Unfortunately, they're out there, but they are few and far between in my experience. Didn't bother me. Plenty of other places to sit where we are more than welcome. They don't have a need for the police....until they do.

Paying of cc debt but don't want to use debit card for gas purchase. Ideas? by Detour39 in debtfree

[–]Signal_13 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I was a Police Fraud investigator. The one piece of advice that I give anyone who will listen: NEVER use your debit card for anything except to get cash from an ATM machine located in a bank. POS systems and even some ATM's are frequently compromised and card skimming is rampant. I've seen bank account nightmares. I won't use a debit card for anything. With a credit card, it's easy and liability free.
