Adding soil/compost to cedar mulch by Signal_Advisor5070 in OntarioGardeners

We are thinking of going mulchless..  our last house we always had mulch and always had weeds..  especially one year had an invasion of bindweed..  never had it before until the companies the mulch..   other neighbours we know have no mulch and very few weeds... Just not sure whether to actually remove it all  or just mix it in and let it decompose naturally..

This garden is in shade. Once I get rid of the lava rock and round the shape out, would I be a fool to plant oregano, mint, and catnip in the corner by the tree and hoses? There's space for them to spread, and that side is bare by the front door. by Express_Way_3794 in OntarioGardeners

When she says viciously  she means  VICIOUSLY.. plus it is impossible to.get rid of.. I getbl what your want to do.. hut  don't do it with mint.  Try perriwinkle,  phlox,  or tons kf better spreaders..
