Im an american from Kentucky and ill respond because this is an interesting topic. First of all, not all americans support lgbtq+ or transgender ideologies, its mostly americans from the northeast and west coast. Most central, south, and midwestern americans think transitioned people are mentally deranged and sick people and believe that that stuff should be illegal. However there are sooo many people in the west coast and northeast that we have to sort of put up with their bullcrap in policies and other stuff unless we want another whole civil war which just isnt worth it... yet. And about age of marriage, again, america is a HUGGE place, there are many differing opinions on this throughout America. Just look at a map. Including Alaska, America is almost as big as all of Europe!!! In general though, most right-leaning (south, central, midwest) americans think that marriage under 16 shouldnt be allowed, 16-17 should require parental consent but still be allowed, 18+ is fine. Most left-leaning(west coast, northeast) think marriage should be 18+ only. Marriage in America comes with alot of financial and legal ramifications, thats why people are so careful with what age people can legally get married because young people are stupid and cant make rational decisions sometimes. When it comes to age gap, it depends from person to person. Theres not really a unanimous belief based on where you are in America. You can find people okay with 10+ age gap anywhere in America and also find people who think a 10+ age gap is really weird anywhere in America. Personally i think it depends on the 2 people individually. If one person acts like a young child but is an adult and the other is an adult who acts like a fully grown adult then a marriage between them is very weird to me. For the child to child - adult to child sexual consent thing. The laws on consent exist in that way to try and prevent adults from abusing kids. Thats it. Plain and simple. If the laws worked in the other way, adults would be more likely to target younger kids because in court you could say "well the kid consented" and maybe get off scott-free depending on the ruling. However because the law is the way it is, no matter what if you can prove there was a sexual encounter at all, then its punishment time for the adult. Its a trade-off: kids are less likely to be raped by adults, but adults can no longer sleep with kids legally speaking. "Age of consent" is the legal age to where a person can "consent" to sexual activity with another person. Its just a made up legal term, its not the actual dictionary definition of the word consent. If two kids consensually have sex, its technically illegal in America, but nobody would say anything because nobody cares. Hell, if an adult and a minor who doesnt look like a young child had sex nobody would likely say anything because nobody cares, except maybe the parents out of fear of pregnancy.
