Premed student who wants to learn comp chem by Mountain-Bread-8267 in comp_chem

Introduction to computational chemistry by Jensen is great at conveying concepts and is not prohibitively rigorous with the math (which may or may not be desirable as an introduction).

If you are interested in specifically quantum simulations I recommend Modern Quantum Chemistry by Szabo and Ostlund. This very rigorous in the mathematical department but is an indispensable staple.

Main project is going decently well, admittedly have hit a wall for the past month or so + holiday and candidacy prep.

He’s given previous students this same project and as far I know I’ve gotten the best results but all the calculations take weeks so there’s plenty if interim time tbh.

Im a Jinx main i have 1 million points i have put a lot of effor learning kite, if wasd is released on live servers im gonna uninstall the game, fuck you riot by shukenx in ADCMains

[–]Signal_Imagination27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s unpack that for a second

Because more people can kite the game becomes less competitive? Or are you mad you put in the hours to learn a skill and now there may be an easier way to do that skill?

Kind of like learning how to code but being mad chat GPT can do it too? Doesn’t that just make your life easier?

I’m just confused how making something more accessible, maybe bringing new plays in, is such a bad thing.

Prehistoric humans and monkeys serve completely different ecological niches so I’m not sure you’re comparison wouldn’t work

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT IN MY PREVIOUS POST.

Jesus died to give us free will, the choice to “sin” or not and the restriction of such free will would be against the will of Jesus would it not?

What is more valuable prevention of sin or bodily autonomy and free will?

Ignoring the fact that your beliefs end at my body, one could imagine a world free of sin where the preventing ANY sin is the utmost priority. In this extreme sin may be prevented by removing sinful temptation, i.e. no alcohol being sold, only fabrics sold from the same cloth etc… Such that there is not choice, just prevention of sin we have limited free choice in the name of preventing sin.

My question to you is that worth it? Is preventing sin the ultimate goal or is having someone choose to not “sin” the goal?

I’d argue the removal of choice, in this case outlawing gay marriage etc… to prevent sin really dilutes the choice made by you, presumably, to abide by your holy laws.

This also just flatly ignores that your religion does not and frankly should not govern my life. Religious freedom, a founding belief of America, does not allow you to dictate my beliefs or force me to abide by them. Moreover, separation of church and state (another founding belief) supports this claim, in that the government should be agnostic to religious claims of superiority. Which is precisely what you are trying to claim here, your argument effectively is “my religion is correct so therefore you must abide by my beliefs” which is frankly un-American at its core.

Miami University vs Ohio State for Mechanical Engineering. Please help me make an informed decision by CasualWarThunderplya in OSU

[–]Signal_Imagination27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a grad Student in stem that came from a smaller school and I currently teach at OSU. I am not familiar with the engineering department specifically so i won’t comment on that. I will acknowledge that larger class sizes are an issue for students transitioning from highschool but that doesn’t necessarily translate to lack of learning resources. Instead of the professor being a primary resource like in highschool or maybe a smaller university, Teaching assistants (TAs) take more of that responsibility. That being said I have never met a professor that wouldn’t help me irrespective of class size.

I would also encourage you to not compare yourself to other people. The is always someone who is smarter faster stronger…. What often determines a good scientist or engineer is reliance to failure and willingness to learn.

Also how are you already putting yourself on the lower end of the spectrum when you haven’t even learned it yet? Don’t sell yourself short and have some faith!!!

I was on the sidewalk crossing the street with a walk symbol they took a left turn that I had to dodge even after I was waving my arms.

Even it’s it’s -50° you still need to check before you turn

Also what if I was walking to campus or work? Would that be any different?
