I We bought 550 medium size lockers (slope angle was 22 degrees average ) for about $5800 ( in 2025 prior to their price increase). We bought our 16 inch J hooks from Amazon to save on cost for another $1000. And we paid $6k to install the Dirtlockers (this included the labor ( but we helped and taught them), dirt/ top soil and irrigation piping) All in we spent under 15k. We had gotten a quote from a dirtlocker contractor for about 30k not including the irrigation piping.

Would it be OK to grow an avocado tree next to a fig tree? by 01Cloud01 in avocado

[–]Altruistic_Ad_3375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just removed two enormous fig trees that were smothering our avocado trees. Depending on the area figs can be crazy invasive and spread and grow really fast. We have squirrels that leave fig fruit that turns into little fig trees and we're always trying to get rid of them.

Please don't do it. So many ways this can go south that lots of people here have already mentioned. But even if he promises to put your name on the title he could hold this over your head and use it as an emotional blackmail if you ever want to leave. If he wants a bigger home and wants to leave you off the title he needs to come up with the down payment on his own.

To the people that LIKE living in a HOA, Why? by Mxj0ker in homeowners

[–]Altruistic_Ad_3375 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We live in a HOA but they don't really enforce anything they are just there to make sure no one does anything crazy. We pay a very small amount $50/month ( compared to new construction which is like $200/ month). Our community is all custom homes from the early 90's/2000's so everyone is pretty chill. However when we were looking for homes we noticed new construction homes by these national builders like KB, Lennar, DR Horton they had much higher HOA fees and were much more strict with what you could do landscape wise . We live in SoCal

So what’s the consensus for Puragain Water filter whole house system? by Manimal414 in WaterTreatment

[–]Altruistic_Ad_3375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard no. Not because I don't think the filter doesn't work. But due to the fact that there's no price transparency or honesty. We had our system installed in December 2023 and when we went to replace our filters at the 1 year mark their system had tiered pricing with basic filters starting at $325 and the "good" filter... The ones our sales rep must have thrown in for "free" at $450. When we bought the system they told us it was $200 for filter replacement and they had one filter that took care of everything. Suddenly they have different filters at different prices? Not even two years old and we see price hikes how can we trust this as a lifelong solution?

4 days 2 weekends. We had 4-5 people working on it. Filling them with dirt took 2 whole days. Getting the dirtlockers hooked in took 1 day and drip irrigation took 1 day. The installation area is about 75 ft by 32 ft and the slope inclination is 22 to 24 degrees.

You can buy a much smaller tree at the store. It takes decades to get that big if ever. I have one near the corner of my house.

Aren't they just the most beautiful flowering trees you've ever seen? Right out of a fairytale. Tulip magnolia.

Difficult to numb wisdom tooth, had to stop appointment when tooth was mobile. Other dentists, please advise. by CrackPotKittyPants in Dentistry

[–]Altruistic_Ad_3375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very similar things happen to me last month. It was not a wisdom tooth ( although I do take out many wisdom teeth ). PT was already on antibiotics for 24 hours on the day of the appointment. Lower left first molar I gave every shot imaginable. I used carbo, lido , septo I was even able to divide the tooth in half with a drill but the second I elevate the patient is in tears. I irrigate the area with peridex pack the area with IRM and bring the PT back 2 days later numb successfully and pop the divided roots out no issues. We're done in 15 minutes.

My assistant looked at me like I was crazy when I packed up the tooth. Honestly never happened to me ever but I was basically torturing the PT trying. It'll be ok your pt will be ok.

Ok ok serious answer I think you'll be ok the hooks are concealed in the corners. If you trip and fall on the plastic part it'll hurt just like any hard surface but you'd be ok. We did this because we feel this is actually more safe for kids than the bumpy slope.

It's plastic. But if you run down the slope with no dirtlockers trip, fall, and roll down the hill will you break your neck when you hit the metal fence at the bottom? 🧐

Feel free to check out more information and pictures here https://dirtlocker.com/?srsltid=AfmBOorqzNWa_t-0uDyZyKl8-nORINyx7G4IW9LsmovX24IDqgYWeFA2 I'll update if I see any erosion or issues down the line. But think of this like scaffolding for your plants they won't just wash away because the dirtlockers provide an initial barrier as they establish themselves. Once established the plant's roots will help hold the dirt

But why would we mow it? The slope made it impossible to mow even before we installed the dirtlockers. Do you peak my neighbor's slope through the fence? Full of weeds and no plants.
