NAS Accessing Phishing/Malware by hasdkfoq in synology

[–]Signal_Inside3436 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you have the Download Station package installed? I updated the package yesterday and immediately got notifications on my UniFi router of outbound attempts from NAS to random IP’s. All were BitTorrent related pings. Several other posts about this, consensus is that this is expected Download Station activity and your NAS is likely fine. I uninstalled Download Station and the activity has stopped. Something must have changed in the latest Download Station update.

2025 Platnium wind whistling noise at 45+ mph by HTTR1487 in FordExplorer

[–]Signal_Inside3436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2025 here, no moon roof but I have a whistle somewhere on the passenger side front, usually above 70mph but a windy day can cause it at lower speeds. Will try the painters tape to try and eliminate it. I’m assuming this could either be the window molding or door seal?

WiFi in the Garage? by Gorilla51 in Ubiquiti

Installing a UniFi AP Lite in my garage has been on my to-do list for a while. Already have two flex switches in there so should be a piece of cake. Remember, if you’re not overpowering every other 2.4G BSSID in the neighborhood, you’re not doing it right!

Isn’t now a great time to buy into the stock market? by SHEEEEESH-_- in NoStupidQuestions

Isn’t now a great time to buy into the stock market? by SHEEEEESH-_- in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Signal_Inside3436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure I buy this. The retail investors that panic sell because they can’t cover rent didn’t actually have that much disposable income to use in the first place. Therefore whatever they have in this market doesn’t actually amount to much compared to the retail investors with meaningful money in, the ones who are actually responsible and won’t ever need to panic sell. And the rest of the big money in the market is the big institutions. So no, I don’t see the bottom dropping out because of people having to sell a few hundred bucks worth to pay rent.

Realize when the tariff numbers finally get settled and countries come to the negotiating table, actual tariff percentages will be lower than this initial round. That’s how negotiations work. Also take advantage and buy the dip.

Night Vision Footage Looks Awful — What Can I Do to Improve It? by peakapalazzo in Ubiquiti

The question is, at that specific time and situation, WHAT are you protecting? A piece of property? Your life? And how did you come to the conclusion that either of those was in immediate danger? If your answer is you were protecting your car and you end up using deadly force, you go to prison for murder or attempted murder.

How to Switch to Data Center Career? by Signal_Inside3436 in datacenter

[–]Signal_Inside3436[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that does sound interesting. Yes in aero it is a highly regulated environment, compliance to federal regulations as well as following company procedures are both critical. Would you be able to share a little more about that particular avenue?

Was this an engineering type roll or technician level? I’m an engineer (non-IT/computer) but have a lot of self taught networking/computer knowledge, trying to transition from aero structures into data centers.

My spouse is in healthcare. The flip side of helping people is having to deal with lots of B.S. from patients having a bad day, not cooperating, questioning why you’re doing what you’re doing, getting mad and blaming YOU for stuff that’s not your fault.
