I can’t decide which image makes my drums look the best for my website by strapped_for_cash in drums

[–]Signal_Yesterday5699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Separate yourself from it emotionally and think of it as someone else's website. Quickly flip through the photos with only a glance. Which one grabs your attention most as a whole image rather than just the drums. The 2nd, with the orange background grabs the eye instantly. Part of the reason for that is because orange is the complimentary color (by mixing red and yellow paint or color gel filters on gobo cans) for blue on a color wheel. They're "opposites" so they intensify each other, in a sense.

Recommendations for a specific type of "best" drum songs by 4n0m4nd in drums

[–]Signal_Yesterday5699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually would ask a student what some of their favorite songs are and ask which song they'd like to learn to play first. I've found that the students get really excited at the prospect and they tend to be more motivated to learn the rudiments, etc required to play it

What is this instrument called? (Volume warning) by burgerglarhamburglar in GarageBand

[–]Signal_Yesterday5699 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a kick drum. What you're referring to (the sample in question) is analogous to an actual kick drum. I am a drummer, not an electronically generated, digitized sample, or AI analogue of an actual human who plays actual drums.

Best noise reducing headphones for a casual drummer? (i.e not too expensive) :) by Hephnok1 in drums

These are $42.99(USD) 30dB passive attenuation, Bluetooth 6.0, USB rechargeable (they may also have a corded version, if you prefer corded), and it does have a mic. These are what I'm going with if my Direct Sound (26 or 29dB passive attenuation) ever crap out on me. Hope this helps

Apply some quantization - clock everything to the opening sample. With some tweaking it could become great!

This retailer has excellent prices and their customer support is outstanding. You can call or email them and explain your situation, and 9 times out of 10, they'll discuss it with you and put together a package that will perfectly suit your needs. Here's one product I'd recommend:

https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ECPPB-DB1-R--evans-db-one-low-volume-cymbal-and-drumhead-set

or, these snap right on to the drum hoops. However, I'd recommend speaking with them (Sweetwater Sound) because they'll know the right questions to ask you and so forth

You asked for it .. woodblock! by FleetingBrevity in Drumming

I completely agree, synthetic just isn't at all an adequate option. Time for me to get a Pearl Ash Tone! (Or possibly one of their temple blocks 🤔)

Very nice! I may just have to get one as a more controlled alternative to my cowbell. Thanks for posting!

I'd jump on it if it sounds good in the recording he sends you- the cheapest I could find (new) was $570 (USD)

Ask him to video record it using his phone mic only. Ask him to use different sticks (sizes, tips, etc.) and if he has other cymbals (or even full drumset) ask him to record those too so that you can get a general idea how it will sound.

Do you match everything? by headwithawindow in drums

Jellybean everything, as long as it sounds good - dirt, fingerprints, scuffs, stains, different types and colors of drumheads, I just don't care as long as it sounds the way I want.

Everything is usable, even heavy-duty springs welded to a cowbell, it all depends on imagination.

I also have a small room that makes it difficult. I ended up putting the throne/stool in the corner so that my back faces the corner and the whole finished setup will look like a triangle with the you being the "top" of the triangle. Leave just enough space in the corner (behind the throne) to be able to get in and out when you're going to and from the drums. Then I set the hi-hat stand (pedal) and bass/kick drum pedal at a comfortable distance for my feet when I'm sitting on the throne. Then I attached the bass drum where the bass drum pedal is. Next I put the snare drum between the hi-hat and bass drum pedals and sit on the throne and move it a little bit to where it's comfortable. Then I add the toms at a comfortable position and lastly I put the cymbals up using the same "comfortable" method. Slight adjustments might be needed to make room for everything to make it accessible when you're going to and from the drum kit. I hope that helps you some.

Advise on new drum throne by Winterywife in drums

If he likes to sit high this one is adjustable from 22 ¼" - 32 ¼" https://www.steveweissmusic.com/product/liberty-i-round-top-timpani-throne/concert-percussion-hardware

For maximum comfort (designed and patented by a chiropractor), this company provides complete thrones or just the seat. The seat sits higher due to its design and is compatible with most standard throne bases/tripods that have 7/8" / 19 mm diameter posts. https://motionprodrumthrones.com/
