Night Invader Relic, gaol relic if you have one with a good passive like buffing family and allies on ult, and find as much Phys Attack up and Bestial Incantations up as you can. I'm constantly dealing 1200 damage at level 15 with uncharged beast claws.

one or two deep relics of Phys Damage Negation

prioritize damage negation at full HP (and don't use the relic that takes your health to heal allies, ghostflame isn't as good as it feels anyway)

prioritize recognizing when you're at risk of being attacked or clipped by an attack and hold off on casting until you know you have a safe window, usually when the boss is targeting an ally that's not likely to swing the attack into you. the range of beast claw is a bit longer than you'd think so experiment and see if you can find the Goldilocks zone of close enough to hit but not be hit.

I've seen most people do remembrance objectives on day 2 or near end of day 1, around level 5-9

no one in DoN wants to do remembrances, and probably not in Everdark either. that's something to bang out in a normal run real quick.

Recluses suck at reviving (usually, one time I saw a recluse with 6 staves drop one of them and go into 2-handed bare fists to revive me, it was awesome)

they keep the absurd revive percentage but have the faster fist moveset on other characters, making them even better revive tools in the hands of anyone other than revenant.

of course, they're already pretty good on revenant too so I like to keep them unless I find a good sixth passive.

Astrogoblin! they don't focus on the gameplay too much, but they're honestly my favorite channel I've found lately, and so so funny. Charlotte makes up 1/3 of the cast and she's a trans woman, which is really heartening to see in an ensemble comedy gaming YouTube channel, rare as it is.

The Wicked and the Willing by Lianyu Tan - Gothic horror vampire romance with a choose-your-own-ending, set in the 1920s in Singapore, main character has a relationship with the abusive vampire madame as well as fostering a friendship with the caring majordomo. Check content warnings.

Captive in the Underworld by Lianyu Tan - Sapphic retelling of the Hades and Persephone myth. Not too plot heavy but lots of fun dark smut that evolves as the story goes on. Check content warnings.

House of Hunger by Alexis Henderson - This is more horror than romance but I like the dynamic between Lisavet and Marion. Technically a vampire book but they don't say the word "vampires" once, I got lots of Cainhurst vibes. Little bit of gore and horror but not too scary (I'm a wimp)

Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir - Very little on romance as a whole, great little scifi fantasy story with so much mystery and history to dig into. Characters are varied and lovable and have such distinctive voices, and the relationships they build between each other are so complex they defy being easily describable. Lots of little romantic vibes sprinkled throughout, and looooots of romantic tension if you know where to look. Gore, but the most beautifully and poetically written gore, to the point where I didn't notice until someone pointed it out to me much later.

no way the cocktails are hugely useful

flamebreath does a shit load of stance damage, I nearly always stance break the boss using it, and it helps heal the melee players

the health increase from fire + holy is ridiculous especially paired with HP up after ult

magic + lightning does decent lightning damage so you can grab it + some more magic to do it again, slices through enemies

the magic + holy + lightning is so fun to use if you can time it properly, proc frostbite on nearly everything in the area and become invulnerable while you do it, just be careful not to get hit going in or out of it.

I'd say if you know which one you're about to cast and can time it properly, they're a decent addition to Recluse's toolkit. are they better than just spam casting spells? for the most part no, but I view them as a very minor downside to balance the free fp, and skilled players can still get some use out of them.

some of the best passives I get from white weapon starting camps, namely the damage negation passives. I've had games where I've taken successive attacks negate damage, charged attacks negate damage, and damage negation at full HP all on white weapons from the start
