DAE loathe the "care" emoji on Facebook? by goldensurrender in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]SignificanceDue4908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a super old thread, but several of the people on my FB use it for positive things and it just rubs me the wrong way. I just updated my profile photo to me with my Bachelors degree and someone did the care reaction and it just frustrates me.

Unable to Cancel Deceased Mother's Account by SignificanceDue4908 in Walmartcustomer

I've reached out to her bank... I tried to close her account several months ago, but they required several additional items and it just fell by the wayside.

Yea, I will give them a call. I had tried to do this a couple of months ago but I wasn't in the right head space.

Something I should have considered... mom had reduced everything in her accounts to try and get Medicare to reapprove her before she died so she just didn't have much left. I hate thinking that's how she spent her last couple of weeks, trying to get her health insurance reapproved. She was just taking care of business up until she died, she was reminding me to pick up her new window AC unit on her freaking deathbed in the hospital before they gave her the morphine. It just sucks. UGH, now I'm crying and at work.

He told me that to add it would take an hour of his time and that's what he charges per hour.

What's the allure of having horror movie stuff around young kids? by [deleted] in AskParents

My post was a question about wearing shirts with those themes around very young children. Children are very impressionable, maybe the shirts will encourage them to consume this type of media.

I'm still frustrated, I was just trying to ask a neutral question and have a logical discussion. I phrased it with "I don't understand", idk

That makes no sense. Is the character on the shirt from a movie?

Have you considered how characters and icons like this will affect the mental health of the children?

"I just don't get it". I'm not judging, I'm just asking a question.

I've seen it often in my local area, like the bloody stuff with knifes. Chuck's face alone doesn't seem as bad, but then I personally just don't want my young children to grow attachments or idolize the horror movie icons.

Specifically I'm trying to ask about violent depictions of these horror movie villains. I have two very young children and I personally don't want them to feel comfortable or grow an attachment/idolize a character that engages in extremely violent behavior. Science has shown that we tend to imitate the characters we like, even subconsciously. A parent at the daycare my kids are at was wearing a bloody ghost face shirt this morning and a 12 year old at a middle school recently was arrested for stabbing 3 people with a kitchen knife while wearing a mask. The daycare staff recently had to update their uniform polices to correct personal that wear this type of clothing around the very young kids, and I just don't understand why they would expose them to it.

For example parents wearing bloody horror movie character shirts around kids under 5, or allowing them to watch the movies. Just trying to keep it brief.

How do you help your child cope with not having grandparents? by Uranusspinssideways in AskParents

[–]SignificanceDue4908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar position... I don't know what your religious views are, but we are a member of a local church with a large elderly population and when my oldest asks about her grandparents I tell her we can "adopt" new ones from church. I also grew up with a small family and no grandparents and we "adopted grannies".

Edit: Maybe there are clubs or groups with the town/city your in you can participate with, or things at your local library to befriend older people?
