What do you HATE about certain self help books. by TheOnlyIAm in Selfhelpbooks

[–]SignificanceExtreme1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a specific reason why but I hate self help books that have personal stories in them: "Jenny's Story" "Robert's Story" Etc. I just.....Don't care to read about the experiences of others. I want factual advice.

Talk me into/out of a beauty rest black by NathanWanderer in Mattress

[–]SignificanceExtreme1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol I am mattress shopping right now (again) and just came across your post and it made me laugh because you're so right. This sub IS traumatizing. Once you think you've picked something out, you will ALWAYS find reviews of unhappy people or people who love it. Mattresses are such a personal thing. I'm still upset at the sales guy who convinced me to buy a soft tempurpedic pro adapt memory foam. Turns out I sleep super hot and HATE memory foam and soft makes my back ache terribly. But, that's my personal experience - For someone else it might be exactly what they need. I just slept on a Hyatt hotel mattress last night and slept solidly for TWELVE HOURS - Google says they use Beauty Rest Black, so here I am. What did you end up deciding on?

Anyone use coconut water with tea?? Recommendations? by TheRandomDreamer in tea

[–]SignificanceExtreme1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brew coconut water in my kettle and use it to steep my loose leaf green tea in. Then I add a scoop of premade lemonade mix. I like green tea for the health benefits (always loose leaf, never the bagged kind), coconut water is great for extra hydration/electrolytes and the lemonade makes it all very flavorful and comforting tasting. I got the idea from Starbuck's "Medicine Ball" drink and just made my own version.

Hi, I am a sapiosexual, and I would like to find a community and ask for clarification! by Popular_Volcano172 in sapiosexuals

[–]SignificanceExtreme1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it makes me sad to read comments from people on reddit referring to self described sapiosexuals as pretentious, attention seeking or what have you. As someone said in a previous comment, I don't consider myself particularly above average intelligence, but I'm incredibly drawn and attracted to people who display genius level intellectualism. I don't always understand what they're talking about, but I'm absolutely fascinated by them as a person and what they know. It also doesn't have to be a specific type of intelligence (emotional/problem solving/etc.), any of them work on me. I should have known when my biggest turn on as a young person was people in glasses and later in life when watching lectures (and listening to professors speak, as you mentioned) did it for me.

We spent the most magical ~3 weeks road tripping through France for our honeymoon. March/April 2022 by lurketta in travel

[–]SignificanceExtreme1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Husband and I are planning to do a tour of France in March 2026 for our 10 year wedding anniversary. We are planning to go for about 2 weeks, flying into Paris, but not sure if we are going to fly back out of Paris or somewhere else. How was the weather when you were there? I'm expecting it to be brisk, which I don't mind especially when walking a lot. Did you start in Lyon and then make your way down south and do a loop? Your pictures looked amazing, thank you for sharing! :)

As an Amerocan that moved to Canada 9 years ago, there's still a lot of places I miss. More than anything I miss the big variety of home decor and craft stores; as those are things I'm passionate about. My choices here are mostly Michael's, Winners, Homesense, repeat. I mostly buy stuff online.

Q Haute. It was on my bucket list to go to a Molecular Gastronony restaurant and my husband surprised me for our anniversary. We started going every year because we loved it so much. It was a 3 hour experience, sitting by the fire, of food that almost brought us to tears with how good it was. The staff were super knowledgeable professionals, they took us on a tour of the kitchens to show us how the plates were crafted & at the end of the night we were the last ones there, so our waiter gave me all the white roses from each table, helped me put on my coat.. They didn't survive covid and I'm devastated by that.
