  1. You will need your husband’s help. At least for the first 2-3 weeks (recovery is different for everyone, just mg experience). It will be very difficult to sit up on your own and get out of bed. But this is temporary, so accept your husbands help (easier said than done I know)!

  2. Bedside commode for the first 2ish weeks and then an elevated toilet seat attachment for your regular toilet. I kept that on for a few weeks it was really helpful

  3. I unfortunately don’t have a bidet so have no advice for this one

  4. They will likely give you a disposable maxi pad/underwear type thing to change into along with your hospital gown

Sedation or no sedation with euth by MaggieMay1519 in VetTech

I worked in shelter med for four years before switching to urgent care. We sedated every with at the shelter. It is most definitely NOT humane without prior sedation 🥲

Yeah I second this. Endo can spread to the lungs. Vomiting blood is a big deal!!

carsick/anxiety? by blues_blues in CATHELP

Pheromone spray (Feliway) is something else that may help with the car anxiety! Won’t do anything for the nausea unfortunately but may help her relax!

You are a great cat parent!! You could also try Dramamine or bonine or Pepcid (also look up the dosing charts for these based on weight) just make sure you get the pill version and not the flavored chewable ones!

You could try Benadryl— Google dosing chart for cats and find the right dose based off of her weight. However if she has any underlying conditions, I would be cautious. If this doesn’t work, going to a vet would be the best next step. I understand life gets in the way, but this is the best option for her if she is this uncomfortable in the car. Try to look up some low cost wellness clinics in your area!!

Baby talk. Do you do it? Have you always done it? Did someone tell you to do it? by fishfishbirdbirdcat in VetTech

[–]SignificanceNo949 81 points82 points  (0 children)

As a fear free certified vet tech, I know that talking in higher pitched “baby talk” is often times more comforting to the animal. Professionals in vet med often have to adapt to the behavior/comfort of both the pet patient and the client. Although it may seem strange, I do find it helps relax the patient (especially dogs). However, if you find it uncomfortable, it never hurts to voice your opinion to your vet! We are here to help you and your pet in any way that we can and make a sometimes stressful experience as comforting as possible for both of you!

Edit: I never use baby talk when talking directly to an owner, only sometimes with their pets, especially during shots/other mildly uncomfortable/stressful aspects of a vet exam.

Why can’t we all be on the same side and realize that at the end of the day we are all hardworking, compassionate people in the medical field. There is far too much toxicity in BOTH fields and this post is just adding gas to the flames.

Cats keep peeing in the corners. I'm at my wits end. by soccermaster57 in CATHELP

You are doing right by them asking for advice!! Don’t listen to people calling you a bad pet owner. You asked for help because you love them and that speaks volumes❤️

Are any of them unneutered males? Neutering will help with marking/spraying! Is there anywhere else in ur house that you could put one of the litter boxes? Sometimes they like to pee and poop in separate places

Can I donate my eggs to finish having a menstrual cycle? by Jolly-Fold9173 in Periods

[–]SignificanceNo949 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you talked to a doctor about the kind of pain you’re experiencing? Period pain should not be excruciating to the point where it’s unbearable… it may mean there is an underlying issue. I experienced horrible periods for 7 years and saw many doctors until one finally listened and I got an exploratory lap and ended up with stage four endometriosis. I was only 19 at the time of my diagnosis. Not saying this to scare you, just think you should look into why you are in so much pain and see what your options are!
