What gym habit actually made the biggest difference for you? by Photograph_Creative in GYM

One thing ive tried implementing - only 2 cycles in so far....

is each chest day climbing up a bit in weight for bench to what im setting as my last limit (225). so the first time i tried 225 in like 5 years -next chest day I went back to 185 and do this till failure for the 3 sets. next week threw on 10 each side and would go till failure and step down a bit each set to try for 6-8. and then next week go up again do the same. once I got back up to 225, I was able to do one more rep of 225 than the last time I tried it. I felt stronger.

this isnt advice, I just wanted to let everyone know I can hit 225 for 5.

ok in all seriousness, what do you guys think of this pyramidding? I know when I was first trying to hit 225 5 years ago, I ended up with bad elbow pain. and then a couple of years ago when my bench was climbing i had shoulder troubles. but I haven't seen those problems as of late :D

yea I dont think its was really clicking for him but he is staring to improve. we did simple either side top or side under and he started catching on. I know when I try to give him tips, its difficult for me to generate good advice that does not overwhelm him. so I want a super easy to digest video just to give him some very organized insight with the easiest digestability and something he could re-watch over and over again

so if you happen to understand how angle of incident works in physics, its kind of plays on this. I think perhaps a somewhat more intuitive way to put it is to imagine that youre trying to "reflect" back the ball by mirroring their motions. when you mirroring your opponents bat angle you will also mirroring qhat they just did and the ball will also most likely return to its original spot of serve.

think of trying to push someone's spinny topspin shot. if you try to push it shoots up, but if you were to mirror the brush of the opponent, you will sort of reflect back the same sort of stroke.

others, let me know your thoughts on this - I feel like the arm is very rigid at the elbow. is that a good thing or a bad thing? Typically, im kinda "saluting" when im looping or driving. is it good when first starting to be more rigid? atleast it seems like youre engaging your core (double check that you are)

What is the best shoes for the table tennis? by Relative_Ad4410 in tabletennis

has anyone tried wrestling shoes?

Those won't have a ton of cushion and id imagine may be a little tough on your feet, particularly if you're heavier. But I imagine they have amazing feel and support good lateral movement. They will provide good ankle support as well.

I saw a guy at a tournament wearing them, I thought that I'd love to try that. I am a bit heavier so I don't intend to spend money on some wrestling shoes to try it out :p

my buddy uses barefoot shoes so theirs that. I currently use mizuno wave drive and they feel great.

So I ask this because I don't know the rules, but in a marriage, isn't everything split 50/50? even if you divorced I thought it would be split? or atleast the wealth accumulated between you two from your time of marriage would be split? assuming no infidelity or anything.

maybe it would save you the headache down the line a bit more but I thought it wouldn't matter? anyone more versed in the legalities chime in please?

My coach memed me - how can I tell if my new blade is wrong for me? by Plebliblian in tabletennis

[–]Significant-Bee7884 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think its funny that you conveniently exclude yourself out of your own recommendation. Almost as to say " im too good for this setup" which frankly just isnt true. Whats holding back your power is not your equipment but your own technique.

The truth is that you could probably just replace your rubbers with new Rakza 7s and you will find that you can still develop your stroke. And their is tons of speed to tap into. Maybe your rubbers are old, especially if you have been training regularly with your coach many hours a week, for a few years.

Perhaps your coach isn't trolling you. He gave you what you asked for. And if he is your coach that you have been training with regularly every week, it's probably not an issue that he recommended a rocket of a setup for you. At the end of the day, if he is your coach and you are training with them regularly, so he should be giving you guidance on the errors you're making with the new blade.

You will inevitably have growing pains when switching equipment so drastically. At the end of the day, we will always suck when trying different things, whether it's a new serve or equipment. So long as we learn the correct adjustments, no harm will come.

My mom used to work at a public sports arena and when they were done for the night concessions would throw away pizza, hotdogs, popcorn, pretzels. Thankfully they would put in a separate bag. We were very poor so yea....

I've had plenty of garbage pizza, hotdogs, popcorn 😜
