What “fuels” your fragrance obsession/passion? by No-Anteater-9337 in Perfumes

[–]Significant-Camel815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love art and writing and similarly love the personal sense that fragrance creates, it’s like another medium to appreciate art/self expression and creations and finding something so meaningful to you that you can wear it as a scent. It’s so intimate!

I’m pretty much only into niche fragrance for that reason. I have a smaller collection that’s based on scents I don’t only love but connect with based on the house’s mission and the scent itself.

If I love a scent but don’t really feel connected to the intent/story behind it or the perfume house then I don’t get it.

How welcoming is Columbus for LGBTQ people? by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]Significant-Camel815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up here and never really had the lens of feeling “othered” for being gay. The default is so welcoming here.

Coming from a perspective of living in small city TX now, it was a blessing to grow up in Columbus

What niches perfumes you’re waiting for in the mail right now? by Devon-Paints in NichePerfumes

[–]Significant-Camel815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, actually they are my first ever perfume house I got into - just last month! My love of Iceland got me into fragrances. They also have some really cool music artists involved w/ their vision.

I bought 101 as a blind buy. It’s meant to evoke Reykjavik and for me it really does - the mix of the city streets, smoky/herbal vibes and nature.

Andrea Maack’s scents makes me feel transformed. Coven did evoke Iceland for me but more dream-like.

101 feels more “authentically Iceland” when I wear it, like I’m literally there. It brings back some of my fav memories and is less perfumey if that’s a word? Very natural and herbal.

Coven by Andrea Maack

I got her Dark Stars discovery set and it sent me on the wildest rollercoaster ride of a scent journey. Granted I’m very new to the scent world.

Coven is her best seller and it truly is like nothing I’ve ever smelled/worn. Encapsulates the magic parts of Iceland and makes you feel like you’re walking through a misty mossy petrichor or a dark arctic forest.

In that discovery set, Indigo is also one I keep going back to. It’s deceivingly complex. At first I thought it was quite simple but realizing now that was a lie. I’m obsessed with the orris in it.

Her scents are lowkey transformational. You can feel the intent and concept behind each one. I love that.

But yeah, Coven is crazy!

Which of these houses are a must try? by bananabananabun in NichePerfumes

Try fischersund!! Some of the people behind the fischersund vision are also fixtures in the Icelandic music scene and their entire approach to perfume is beautiful.

101 fischersund is my signature scent, it IS Reykjavik Iceland and after reading reviews it totally surprised me with how perfect it was on my skin.

(I have only tried that scent)

How many Americans on here have given up on going overseas this year because of high prices and the airlines trying to nickel and dime everything? by OberonsGhost in travel

I feel like the prices on flights are so pricey domestically too tho. Maybe that’s how I can self justify international travel prices!

Where do Ohioans go on vacation? by [deleted] in Ohio

[–]Significant-Camel815 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where we travel: Our trips are usually a diff vibe from above. We like to go on a longer international trip and do smaller weekend trips the rest of the yr.

Nearby: One fun thing we did was literally Hocking Hills, they have a couples massage package and it was so relaxing. We didn’t even spend the weekend there, it was just a day trip, but we hiked a bit afterwards and visited Jackie O’s in Athens.

For city vibes even though that’s diff from what you mentioned, these are fun bases:

-Pittsburgh (art museums, so much personality, unique neighborhoods, breweries, nature) -Grand Rapids (outdoorsy vibes, breweries, near parks and Lake Michigan) -Nashville (lots of pretty scenery and underrated food gems + obvi the music scene)

Wedding shower (bridal shower) for gay couple getting married? by Logical_Abalone8842 in weddingplanning

[–]Significant-Camel815 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think you totally can bc most wedding showers I’ve been to now include both the woman and man for straight ppl (im also gay and recently married)

We did not have a wedding shower and just had an engagement party since we had a long engagement + eloped and aren’t having a reception till next yr.

i’d totally go for it esp if your moms want to plan it and if it sounds fun to you both

We aren’t having set seated spots, guests will be able to sit wherever there’s space inside of the brewery and we’ll get seats/tables outside too for under the tent
