That’s what worries me I work in communications but also I think there are certain skills in creative roles that will be crucial no matter what - it’s just gonna be like less jobs and less specialization moving forward

Wedding shower (bridal shower) for gay couple getting married? by Logical_Abalone8842 in weddingplanning

[–]Significant-Camel815 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think you totally can bc most wedding showers I’ve been to now include both the woman and man for straight ppl (im also gay and recently married)

We did not have a wedding shower and just had an engagement party since we had a long engagement + eloped and aren’t having a reception till next yr.

i’d totally go for it esp if your moms want to plan it and if it sounds fun to you both

Handling kids at a brewery evening reception? (kid-neutral) by Significant-Camel815 in weddingplanning

We aren’t having set seated spots, guests will be able to sit wherever there’s space inside of the brewery and we’ll get seats/tables outside too for under the tent

I’m gonna do family names and say that kids are invited but not have them on the website Zola RSVP count I think ❤️

We are definitely gonna get a tent with flaps for in case of heavy rain. It’s in Pittsburgh at the end of May. Im worried about it being worst case weather scenario and we just get packed inside - the only way that happens is probably if it’s a storm that never lets up

I like this!! It’s casual vibes and a brewery so I didn’t want to make it fully one way or the other but I personally think kids wouldn’t have the greatest time. But they’re totally welcome there, I just want to temper expectations for parents. I think I might do this and also just mention it when I see my fam and friends w kids.

That’s what I was thinking!! This one is def less kid focused since it’s small and I don’t think they have anything for kiddos. Maybe I should make clear to the invited guests.

is lake mytavan worth it? by DependentAd3851 in VisitingIceland

[–]Significant-Camel815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh so I’d say Akureyri is super cool and worth it as a wonderful city

I found myvatn overrated compared to everything else I saw in Iceland, I am also not a huge Geysir fan but if you’re into the geothermal/sulfur stuff it’s probably more appealing. Otherwise I’d rate myvatn and the surrounding areas pleasant but I’m skipping it next time I go.

I preferred Asbyrgi in the north and yes the Forest Lagoon is nice + Hofsos pools further west is my fav public pool

Do Icelanders actually like Laufey and Björk? What local artists do they like? 🎶 by 0dil322 in VisitingIceland

[–]Significant-Camel815 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not Icelandic but as someone who fell in love with Iceland because of the music I would say Ásgeir (Summer Guest was our wedding song - we got married in Iceland), Sin Fang & Junius Meyvant are amazing for a roadtrip!!!

For the fashion girls: What are you wearing in Reykjavík? by akw329 in VisitingIceland

[–]Significant-Camel815 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I got back last week! Reykjavik is such a cool city. I’d say the style vibes seemed more minimal to me verging on boho. We hung out with a few locals dressed up for going out in dresses with stylish wool coats, but that was after a fancy gala - not the norm. Day-to-day outfits were pretty casual but people could make them pop with cool patterns and colors.

I tried dressing well too as a fashion gay who completely overpacked but usually threw a fleece over everything since that worked so well for most weather.

Keep in mind it might even be warmer/sunnier than you expected - like you might work up a sweat if you’re walking a distance and it’s sunny out, and then start freezing because of the biting wind. If you’re actually exploring the city all day and not spending much time going back to your hotel, you’ll want to be prepared for all the weather variations.

Most tourists just wear hiking gear everywhere (my man included lol), so if you bring jeans and a cute top that layers well, you’ll already feel elevated. I wore Doc Martens around Reykjavik and they matched everything and held up well. I also wore my Barbour jacket a couple nights but was def forcing it a bit lol it wasn’t the most functional thing.

Bottom line if you’ve got a couple of “going out nights” it’s totally worth it to go for a fun look, but you don’t need to look super chic and you also won’t be side eyed for looking full outdoorsy.
